South African all-rounder Chris Morris became the most expensive buy in IPL history as he was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for a record price of Rs 16.25 crore at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 Auction held in Chennai on Thursday. The eight franchises spent Rs 145.30 crore in this year's auction to buy a total of 57 players, including 22 overseas candidates. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) splashed Rs 9.25 crore to acquire the services of all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham, making him the most expensive uncapped Indian player. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) went all out for New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson, splashing a whopping Rs 15 crore. They also went big for Australia's Glenn Maxwell, spending Rs 14.25 crore to land him. Another top buy in the IPL Auction 2021 was Jhye Richardson who was picked up by Punjab Kings for Rs 14 crore.
