Harpreet Singh Bhatia Profile

Harpreet Singh Bhatia hails from a small town of Madhya Pradesh and is a batting all-rounder. He won an award for the best Under-19 cricketer of the 2008-09 season owing to his score of over 700 runs in 7 matches in the Cooch Behar Trophy. He was then named vice-captain for the Under-19 tour of Australia in 2009. Later that year, he made his debut in the Ranji Trophy for Madhya Pradesh. He was also in the Under-19 squad for the World Cup in New Zealand that year.

Bhatia was signed by Kolkata for the first few seasons of the IPL. In 2011, he was picked by Pune. However, he got only a single game for his side. After that, he got lost somewhere in the background and failed to make any big impact. After emerging as the highest run-getter in domestic cricket's premier T20 tournament, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he came back in the reckoning. However, destiny had some other ideas for him.

At the day of the 2017 Indian T20 League auction, a fake media report circulated his name in the social media. It pointed out that he is in police custody due to a drink and drive case. As a result, he was ignored at the auction. His identity got mixed up with Harmeet Singh, a left-arm spin bowler. Later the news was corrected but the damage was already done. He got a redemption later on as Bangalore drafted him in to replace the injured Sarfaraz Khan. Due to the batting heavy line-up, he didn't get a look in though. Harpreet will look forward to impress the selectors by performing consistently at the domestic level.
