IPL Auction 2022 Highlights: Avesh Khan became the most expensive uncapped player in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) after being picked up by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 10 crore. Other uncapped players Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Rahul Tripathi, Abhishek Sharma and Dewald Brevis earned big too. Capped all-rounders Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur, fast bowlers Lockie Ferguson and Prasidh Krishna got big bucks on Day 1 of IPL 2022 auction. Ishan Kishan, however, continued to remain the most expensive buy so far after Mumbai Indians picked him up for Rs 15.25 crore. Chahar went for Rs 14 crore to CSK while Ferguson and Krishna were picked up for Rs 10 crore each by Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals respectively.
Sunrisers Hyderabad sprang in a surprise by roping in Nicholas Pooran for a whopping 10.75 crore. Krunal Pandya and Mitchell Marsh were the other big picks after the IPL 2022 auction resumed. The event was halted as auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed mid-way through it. Charu Sharma conducted the event from there on. Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga was bought by RCB for Rs 10.75 crore. Earlier, Harshal Patel was bought for the same amount by Royal Challengers Bangalore after Rajasthan Royals started the second round with a bang by picking up Shimron Hetmyer and Devdutt Padikkal.
Shreyas Iyer was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a whopping Rs 12.25 crore after Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada went to Punjab Kings for Rs 8.25 crore and 9.25 crore respectively. Other big names like David Warner, Mohammed Shami were picked up by Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans respectively while Faf du Plessis was bought for Rs 7 crore by RCB.
