Flamboyant all-rounder Hardik Pandya is one of the biggest success stories of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The big-hitting Mumbai Indians star first made his name in the cash-rich league and has gone on to become one of India's biggest stars, especially in the shortest format. Ahead of the player auction for the 2021 season of the IPL on Thursday, Hardik took to social media to share a video that showed a throwback interview from when he a young boy aspiring to play for state and country and then to where he has reached in life now.
"Don't ever underestimate the power of your dreams. Blessed and grateful," Hardik wrote along with the video. "#IPLAuction always reminds me of just how far we've come," he added, referring to his brother Krunal, who also plays for Mumbai Indians and the national team.
"Love you brother," Krunal wrote in the comments.
The IPL 2021 player auction will take place in Chennai on Thursday, with 292 names to go under the hammer.
There are 61 slots to be filled by the eight franchises, as they look to find the right balance ahead of the 14th edition of the IPL.
Hardik and Krunal both shone in the previous season of the IPL, which was held in the United Arab Emirates amid the coronavirus pandemic, as Mumbai Indians won a record-extending fifth title.
Mumbai Indians will go into the auction with a purse of Rs 15.35 crore to fill seven slots, including four overseas players.
