Nick Kyrgios Out: Ten Reasons Why US Open 2015 May Not be Fun Anymore. Thank God?
If tennis was won by antics, Nick Kyrgios would have been on the fast track to the sport's Hall of Fame. At the US Open 2015 though, there were no points for the Aussie's tomfoolery.

Love him or just hate him to pieces. There is no doubt that showboating Nick Kyrgios can keep spectators engrossed regardless of how one-sided his matches may turn out to be. In his first round match of US Open 2015, the Aussie 'brat' lost 5-7, 3-6, 6-4, 1-6 to Andy Murray in what was the most-eagerly awaited opening match in years. With the defeat, ended all hopes of whacky headlines and even whackier photographs in the days to come. (Nick Kyrgios Gets Some Attitude Tips From Shane Warne)
Therefore, here are the top-10 reasons why US Open 2015 may well turn out to be all about the tennis, now that Kyrgios has been sent packing. (Did someone say 'thank god?')
No. 10) All the time for a nap!
Tennis players wipe the sweat off between sets, gulp down a drink, eat a banana or just sit focusing on their strategies. None of all that for Kyrgios. (Nick Kyrgios Wants to Keep His Mouth Shut After Stanislas Wawrinka Girlfriend Row)
The 20-year-old was seen with head towards the heaven and eyes shut - clearly taking that much-needed nap between sets that other players have hardly ever considered.
No. 9) Flinging his racquet to reach a shot!
Ever heard of lightening legs? No, Kyrgios doesn't seem to have those. Instead, he more than makes up for it by hurling his racquet to meet wide shots. (Nick Kyrgios Goes Down Swinging. And Missing)
Against classy placements from Murray, the Aussie did the same. It was just that the chair umpire hardly knows his rules and failed to award any points for the effort.
No. 8) Flung his racquet to reach nowhere at all!
Now many players have seen bashing their racquets at missed chances or after bad plays. Kyrgios is no different. Or is he?
Apart from throwing his racquet to meet the ball, he flung it accidentally, then flung it in despair and then flung it all over. In fact, if his racquet could, it would have totally sued Kyrgios for first degree assault.
No. 7) Still, All the time for a nap!
Just when you thought the shut eyes were a one-off, Kyrgios repeatedly chose to go into lala land between sets. Just for the record, let's just assume he was meditating the second time around!
No. 6) Complained about the spectators. Yes, the ones watching him 'fool' around
"What the hell are they doing letting people in in the middle of the game? 15-love and they let 30 people in," Kyrgios was heard screaming to the chair umpire. Of course, he used more flowery language but then, such words are better heard than read.
No. 5) Hit an Absurd Tweener!
Some people can hit it. Some people can't. Some people don't need to. And then there is Kyrgios.
No. 4) Stripped down! Wait, we mean went sleeveless
Coming from Australia means adjusting to heat and humidity can be a big problem. Little wonder then that Kyrgios came in wearing a regular T-shirt but had to eventually switch to a sleeveless one. Not that that's a problem but then it's Kyrgios. So we thought we would point it out.
No. 3) Another nap? Now, that's some snooze power right there!
Let's just establish that it was meditation for sure this time around.
No. 2) Not one remark on the opponent's personal life...
Yes! You read it here. Kyrgios did not hurl a single personal insult at Murray from his end of the court. Unconfirmed reports state Stanislas Wawrinka was close by somewhere, ready to pounce if the Aussie did.
No. 1) ...still lost!
Sure he fought an entertaining war. By that virtue, he completely outclassed Murray. Tennis matches, unfortunately, are not decided that way. Therefore, a rather inanimate Murray managed to win the match and book a place in the second round of US Open 2015.
