Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant was involved in an argument with the on-field umpire over a DRS call during the IPL 2024 game against Lucknow Super Giants on Friday. The incident happened after an apparent confusion over Pant's decision to take a review. During the 4th over of the LSG innings, Ishant Sharma bowled a delivery down the leg side against Devdutt Padikkal. The umpire signalled for a wide but Pant quickly went for a review. Replay showed that it was a wide but Pant was not happy and commentators thought he was insisting that he did not ask for a review.
Rishabh Pant was clearly at the wrong there. He indeed asked for a review or at least gestured that way. Umpire will obviously act accordingly. Rishabh Pant is so immature. He doesn't deserve to be a captain. #IPL2024 #LSGvsDC #DCvsLSG #LSGvDC #DCvLSG

There was a long conversation between the umpire and Pant but various replays shown by the official broadcaster made it clear that Pant had indeed signalled for a review.Â

Legendary India batter Sunil Gavaskar felt that it was a possibility that Pant was making that gesture to ask a teammate for advice but the umpire thought that it was an official review.Â
However, Pommie Mbangwa and Deep Dasgupta said that Pant was actually not happy with the umpire not checking the snickometer during the review as the DC skipper believed that the umpire should have checked for an edge in order to decide whether it was a wide or not.
