Sanju Samson (61) and Rishabh Pant (97) took the Gujarat bowlers to the cleaners as runs came thick and fast for the hosts. Delhi lost their captain Karun Nair early in the tall run-chase but Samson and Pant took the attack to the opposition and brought the asking rate down to run a ball in no time. At the end Delhi won by seven wickets with 15 balls to spare to keep their chances of reaching the play-offs alive. Pant and Samson shared a 143-run partnership for the second wicket to help Delhi easily overhaul Gujarat's score. (Scorecard)
Earlier, Gujarat Lions got off to a terrible start after being put into bat as the visitors lost both their openers, Brendon MCCullum and Dwayne Smith in quick succession. Suresh Raina (77) along with Dinesh Karthik (65) stitched together a century-run stand to get things rolling for Gujarat as Delhi Daredevils struggled to break the partnership. A brilliant cameo from Aaron Finch at the end with Ravindra Jadeja using the long handle to good effect took Gujarat over the 200-run mark at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi.
