Samuel Badree starred for the West Indies with the ball, taking three wickets for 12 runs to restrict Sri Lanka to 122 for nine. 18:47 hrs IST: Hello and welcome to Bengaluru for Sunday's second World T20 match between Sri Lanka and West Indies! Both sides won their opening matches, so who ever comes out on top today will be well placed to make it to the semi-finals.
Gayle put on a batting extravaganza in Mumbai as he smashed a 47-ball century to lead the West Indies to victory over England in their opening Super 10s game.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, look a shadow of the team that won the last T20 World Cup in Bangladesh two years ago. They have been badly weakened by the retirements of batting stalwarts Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene.
To make matters worse, World T20-winning captain and strike bowler Lasith Malinga was ruled out of the tournament without even playing a match.
The Lankans were given a morale booster with victory over lowly Afghanistan in their first Super 10s outing on Thursday, when veteran opener Tillakaratne Dilshan smashed 83 off 56 balls.
But they face a much tougher test in Gayle who unleashed a succession of sixes during the West Indies' stunning six-wicket win over England.
