Varun Chakravarthy fetched a whopping price of Rs 8.4 crore, becoming the joint-most expensive buy at the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in Jaipur on Tuesday. Earlier, left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat secured an identical deal of Rs 8.4 crore with Rajasthan Royals. Kings XI Punjab bought mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy following an intense bidding war with Kolkata Knight Riders. Another uncapped player, Shivam Dube was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 5 crore. England's Sam Curran was the most expensive overseas cricketer at the price of Rs 7.2 crore. Kings XI Punjab bought the England all-rounder after an intense bidding session. India's forgotten pacer Mohit Sharma also secured a Rs 5 crore deal and made his way to Chennai Super Kings. Mohammed Shami, who claimed a career-best Test spell of 6/56 on Monday, was sold for Rs 4.8 crore to Kings XI Punjab. All-rounder Axar Patel went to Delhi Capitals for Rs 5 crore, while veteran Yuvraj Singh was sold at his base price of Rs 1 crore to Mumbai Indians. The stars who remained unsold are Dale Steyn, Cheteshwar Pujara, Brendon McCullum, Chris Woakes, Alex Hales and Chris Jordan.
