Thrust into leadership role in a grim situation, young Shreyas Iyer responded with a whirlwind 93-run knock as Delhi Daredevils, seeking revival in IPL, hammered Kolkata Knight Riders by 55 runs, on Friday night. Sent into bat, the Daredevils batsmen fired in unison to put on board a massive 219 for four with the two young batsmen from Mumbai Iyer (93 off 40) and Prithvi Shaw (62) enthralling the fans with their elegant knocks. Iyer and Shaw added 68 runs for the second wicket after the latter had shared a 59-run partnership for the first wicket with Kiwi batsman Colin Munro (33). Batting like a man-possessed, Iyer hammered young pacer Shivam Mavi for four sixes and a four in the last over of the innings as Daredevils collected 76 runs from the last four. (Scorecard)
Iyer, who replaced Gautam Gambhir as captain, sent the ball soaring over the ropes 10 times and hit the fence thrice while Shaw hit seven fours and two sixes. KKR fielders dropped Iyer twice and paid a very heavy price for the mistake. His innings overshadowed the tremendous work done by Shaw, who joined Sanju Samson as the youngest player to hit a fifty in IPL, aged 18. Glenn Maxwell too played a crucial role in Daredevils' splendid show with his 27-run knock as the hosts posted their best total of the season.

DD vs KKR Highlights
Delhi get their second win of the season. One which they desperately needed and this could very well get their campaign back on track. Plenty of positives for them to take. On Saturday, we have Chennai hosting Mumbai in their new home in Pune. It will begin at 2000 local (1430 GMT). Do join us for that. Cheers!
Shreyas Iyer is announced as the Man of the Match for his stunning 93 off 40 deliveries. He smashed 10 sixes and 3 fours and remained unbeaten 7 short of a century. Had there been a couple of more balls to play, he would have surely got there with the way he was playing.
After putting in a good show with the bat, the home side continued in the same vein with the ball. Trent Boult, Glenn Maxwell and Avesh Khan provided the early breakthroughs and Kolkata were 4 down within the Powerplay itself. It was more or less game over at that point. Yes, Andre Russell and Shubman Gill did try to resurrect the chase and kept some hope alive, but the risk was always big as there was no recognized batsman left after them. The moment the latter got run out, it all went downhill from there and Russell's blistering knock wasn't enough. A clinical performance from Delhi, their third biggest win in the League (in terms of runs), one which they would be proud of.
A much-needed win for Delhi. They finally looked like the team they were meant to going by how they went at the auction. Shreyas Iyer starts his leadership reign on a high. His team completely outclassed the opposition in all departments. The toss was the only thing that went Kolkata's way. After putting Delhi into bat, the hosts got off to a blazing start as Munro and Shaw (who got a fifty) were firing away. It continued on with skipper Iyer playing the knock of his life. His 73-run stand with Maxwell turned the tide in the hosts' favour as they got past the 200-mark for the first time this season.
FOUR! Ends the innings with a couple of boundaries, but to no avail in the grand scheme of things. DELHI WIN BY 55 RUNS! A big one for them. Johnson flicks it over the mid-wicket area and finds the fence. Smiles return in the Delhi dugout.
FOUR! Too full, Johnson creams the drive through the covers and sends it across the boundary line. Good timing on that.
Works it through mid-wicket and takes the single available to him.
Yorker just outside off, Kuldeep backs away, throws his bat at it but can't connect again.
Short ball just outside off, Yadav is a bit sloppy in playing at the ball so misses it.
Wide! Way down the leg side, easy call for the umpire to make.
