The eight edition of Indian Premier League may have left politics and Bollywood far behind in list of most popular topics on the social networking site. T20 cricket remains a top draw.

The eight edition of the Indian Premier League kept fans glued to TV sets for a month and a half. According to data revealed by Facebook, the T20 cricket tournament may have kept many engaged on the social media platform as well with 29 million global users having 312 million interactions (any activity related to likes, shares, comments or posts) between April 1 and May 24. While the thrilling cricket on the field kept countless fans guessing, the wins and losses were discussed on the social platform as well. The majority of the activity - not surprisingly - was led by fans based in India.
Close to 21 million people had 246 million interactions through the course of Indian Premier League 2015. The title clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings was the main draw with 2.4 million interactions from 1.2 million users globally. In India, there were 1.9 million interactions driven by 912,000 users who followed the epic clash at Eden last Sunday.
Mumbai Indians managed to dominate Chennai Super Kings in the summit clash for their second Indian Premier League title. It propelled captain Rohit Sharma as the most discussed player of the final. According to a Livemint report, Twitter - like Facebook - registered phenomenal numbers. In a five-week period between April 9 and May 13, there were 290.1 million live tweet impressions.
