Sri Lanka started their chase of 172 poorly by losing four quick wickets. However, Angelo Mathews played a brilliant knock and his partnership with Chamara Kapugedera got Sri Lanka back in the game. However, his fifty turned out to be in vain as England held their nerve to win by 10 runs to dump the defending champions out of the tournament. 23:30 hrs IST: That is all we have from Delhi. Three out of the four semi-final spots have been taken. Barring a miracle in the last match between Afghanistan and West Indies, England will take on New Zealand in the first semi-final. West Indies will await the winner of the match between India and Australia in Mumbai.

Morgan: We were fantastic to put Lanka under pressure with 3-4 wickets. I thought it would be difficult for our seamers with the new ball skidding on. But they thrived on conditions.
Mathews: We lost the plot in the final overs. It was a good wicket to bat on. Hasn't been a good tournament for us. Day by day we were getting better though. We have a new squad. Good learning experience for the youngsters. Our senior guys needed to step it up which we didn't most of the time

Brilliant catch from Root. Full ball outside off, Shanaka launches it to mid off where Root dives to his left to take a brilliant catch.
22:48 hrs IST: Shanaka slams a four and a six off Willey. Game on in Delhi.
22:42 hrs IST: Shanaka is struggling to get bat on ball. Mathews is just hobbling. He has to be there for most of the balls.

21:46 hrs IST: Contrasting fielding efforts. Kapugedera is hurried up by a short ball from Plunkett and he gloves the pull shot, it falls in front of Adil Rashid who fails to get behind the ball, Buttler runs hard and saves a run with a slide at third man.
21:43 hrs IST: Mathews breaks the shackles by smashing two boundaries off Jordan. The bowler concedes 11 runs as Sri Lanka move to 28/4 after five overs.
21:38 hrs IST: Liam Plunkett is into the attack and he concedes just two runs. Sri Lanka are 17/4 after four overs and are staring at a big loss.

21:35 hrs IST: WICKET! Lahiru Thirimanne run out (Stokes) 3 (5) ||Overs 3.
Poor stuff from Sri Lanka. Mathews taps it to short cover and Thirimanne sets off for a quick single, the skipper sends him back and Stokes swoops it and fires an under-arm throw at the bowler's end to catch Thirimanne short.

Full ball outside off, Siriwardana looks to launch the drive over cover but toe-ends it, Morgan who is at the edge of the circle, takes the catch over his head.
21:25 hrs IST: WICKET! Dinesh Chandimal c Buttler b Jordan 1 (3) || Overs 1.2.
Chandimal moves to the off side and Jordan bangs it short outside off, the ball climbs up as Chandimal fends at it, the outside edge is snapped up by Buttler.
21:19 hrs IST: WICKET! Tillakaratne Dilshan c Hales b Willey 2 (2) || Overs 0.3.
That is a big wicket! Full ball swinging back in on leg stump, Dilshan hoicks it to deep backward square leg where Hales takes the catch.
21:15 hrs IST: Tillakaratne Dilshan and Dinesh Chandimal come out to open. They have a huge task on hand. Dilshan, who started his IPL career with the Delhi Daredevils, will be the key.

21:00 hrs IST: Stokes slams a six off the last ball and England have ended on 171/4 after 20 overs. Buttler's brutal fifty could prove to be the difference.
20:52 hrs IST: 18 runs in the 16th over, 14 runs in the 17th over, 15 runs in the 18th over and 15 runs in the 19th over. 62 runs in the last four overs. Buttler has absolutely decimated Sri Lanka.
20:47 hrs IST: Brilliant way for Buttler to bring up his fourth fifty! He launches Shanaka straight down the ground for a big six. He has notched it up off just 28 balls. Shanaka concedes 15 runs in his only over and England are 146/3 after 18 overs.

20:21 hrs IST: WICKET! Roy lbw Vandersay 42 (39) || Overs 12.5.
Roy looks to pull a short ball to mid wicket, but he misses a straight ball, he is given out lbw immediately. That ball was just pitching in line but would have hit off stump, that ball skidded through low.
20:13 hrs IST: Jos Buttler is in. Eoin Morgan has not been in good form. Buttler gets going with a reverse swept boundary as England move to 73/1 after 11 overs.
20:11 hrs IST: WICKET! Root c Thirimanne b Vandersay 25 (24) || Overs 10.1.
Oh dear, Root has holed out. Short googly from Vandersay and the batsman pulls it to deep mid wicket, he finds Thirimanne and he is gutted. Root swears at himself as he walks off.
20:08 hrs IST: Root tries to go after Chameera and he partially succeeds. He slices a back of a length ball just over Mathews at wide mid off.

20:03 hrs IST: Roy brings up the fifty-run stand with a big six off Herath. England have recovered well.
20:00 hrs IST: Dushmantha Chameera is into the attack. He cuts Roy with an off-cutter and there is an appeal for a caught-behind. However, there was no edge. After eight overs, England are 50/1.
19:56 hrs IST: Milinda Siriwardana comes into the attack. However, it is a poor start as Roy blasts a full toss straight down the ground for a 86-meter six.
19:54 hrs IST: Root ends the powerplay in style as he whips Mathews past mid wicket for a boundary.
