Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes sent Australian bowlers on a leather hunt as England earned a scintillating victory against Australia to knock them out of the tournament in ICC Champions Trophy on Saturday. Chasing 278 for win, England lost three quick wickets for 35. Morgan and Stokes counter attacked and ripped apart the Kangaroos. However, the match could not be completed as rain stopped play and the match had to be called off after 40 overs in the second innings. Englishmen were declared winners by 40 runs (DLS). From Group A, England and Bangladesh qualify for the semi-finals.
Earlier, England rode on spectacular bowling from pacer Mark Wood (4 for 33) and spinner Adil Rashid (4 for 41) to restrict Steve Smith-led Australia to 277 for 9 in their ICC Champions Trophy 2017 match at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. For Australia, middle-order batsman Travis Head smashed an unbeaten 71 off 64 balls, while Aaron Finch (68 off 64) and Smith (56 off 77 balls) scored half-centuries. (SCORECARD)
