Portugal will face Belgium in the Round of 16 clash in the UEFA Euro 2020
Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo seemed to be in a jolly mood during practice session on Friday after guiding his team to the knockout stages of the ongoing EURO 2020. Ronaldo was seen playing a prank on his former Real Madrid teammate Pepe during the team's practice ahead of their Round of 16 clash against Belgium. The video was posted on the official Instagram page of Portugal's national football team. In the clip, Pepe is seen on the ground doing a bit of stretching, while Ronaldo sneaks up behind him. The 36-year-old smirks at the officials present around and gestures not to alert Pepe.
Then Ronaldo pours what appears to be cold water on Pepe's head taking him by surprise. Pepe, however, plays it cool. The caption on the post read, "Extreme heat? The captain is here to help. #TeamPortugal."
In the group stages, Portugal would have bowed out of the tournament had it not been for Ronaldo's two goals against Germany. The defending champions played out a 2-2 draw and, in the process, reached the next round.
It was a momentous occasion for the 36-year-old striker as his brace helped him join Iran legend Ali Daei as the joint-highest goal scorer in international football with 109 goals.
Ronaldo is in terrific form in Euro 2020, having netted five goals so far in three games.
Late on Sunday night, when Portugal takes on Belgium in Seville, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner will look to go past the Iranian great to further stamp his authority as the greatest goal scorer in international football.
Along with Portugal, France and Germany also reached the next round from Group G, with Hungary making its exit.
