Love is blind but it has helped Mario Balotelli blossom into a lethal striker.
The 22-year-old Italy forward has struck six goals in seven games for AC Milan, since his 19 million Pound move from Manchester City in January. He also scored both goals for the Azzuri in their 2-0 victory over Malta on Tuesday night.
And Mario Balotelli has attributed this streak to his new girlfriend Fanny Neguesha.
"Yes, I am in love!" said Balotelli in an interview with the London Evening Standard. "She is determined, confident and generous. In a short space of time she found herself in sync with me. I could spend my whole life with someone like this."
Surprisingly mature words from a player who has been photographed with known mafia mobsters, burnt his house down and was spotted in a Milan jersey while playing for Inter.
"Thanks to Fanny I have rediscovered the balance that I need in my work," he added.
It is obvious that Balotelli is smitten with Neguesha.
"She puts our relationship first and foremost, so there are no distractions or rows before games. It's not easy to be with me, because I almost have to give up on a private life, as I am constantly exposed to the public."
Balotelli has a daughter Pia with former girlfriend Raffaella Fico, who claims that he has not been to see Pia since she was born in December. "If it has happened so far, it is not my fault," he says in his customary matter-of-fact manner.
"I am not a nasty person. In fact, at times I am too naively good-natured. I would like to meet her and really hope she is my daughter."
