Ajinkya Rahane slammed his third Test hundred off 127 balls as India muscled on to 315/3 vs Australia on Day 3 of the Boxing Day match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Scorecard
Rahane joined Virat Kohli at the fall of Murali Vijay's wicket with India in a spot of bother at 147/3. However, the Mumbai lad came out all guns blazing and was more aggressive than Kohli for most of their glorious partnership.
Rahane had scored a half-century apiece at Adelaide and Brisbane but was unlucky to miss out on well-deserved hundreds. However, on Sunday he was in no mood to let go of another golden opportunity, taking the Australian attack apart in good batting conditions.
Rahane was involved in a record 262-run partnership with Kohli for the fifth wicket, India's highest outside home for the last 10 years. However, the Mumbai batsman fell for 147 to Nathan Lyon in the closing stages of the day, triggering a collapse.
All of Rahane's three hundreds have come overseas. The first one was scored in South Africa while the second came on on a green top at Lord's. Rahane was lucky to be dropped on 70 today. Off-spinner dropped a simple catch off his own bowling, allowing Rahane the chance to reach triple figures on a sunny day at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
