In the wake of the shocking death of Australian batsman Phillip Hughes, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended its friendly arm to help the Australian squad heal from the tragedy. Hughes collapsed after being hit by a bouncer in a Sheffield Shield game on Tuesday. He never regained consciousness and died on Thursday. (Sachin, fans pay touching tribute to Hughes)
"If some of our boys mingling with the Australian players is going to help them get back on track, we will immediately facilitate it," a BCCI official said, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. (A nation gets set to bid Hughes farewell)
The Australian team is understandably distraught by Hughes' unfortunate demise. With the funeral on December 3 in Hughes' hometown in Macksville, the first Test has been indefinitely postponed and could even be cancelled as the hosts are not in a frame of mind to return to the cricket field as yet.
