All-round India outplayed Pakistan by eight wickets in their group match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Electing to bat first, Pakistan were bundled out for 162 as they couldn't handle the heat of the Indian bowlers. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kedar Jadhav starred with the ball as they shared six wickets between them. Apart from them, Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets. In reply, India overhauled the target in 29 overs, riding on fine partnerships between Rohit Sharma and Shikar Dhawan. After Rohit and Dhawan's dismissal, both Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik ensured India crossed the finishing line. India started their run chase very slowly but once they picked up pace there was no stopping Rohit Sharma, who hit his 35th ODI fifty. However, a moment of inspiration from Shadab Khan removed the Indian captain shortly after his fifty. (SCORECARD) (Play fantasy league and win cash daily)
Shikhar Dhawan kept the fight alive but Faheem Ashraf dismissed him for 46 as the left-handed batsman missed out on his fifty. Rayudu and Karthik insured that India did not lose further wickets. With singles and double, the Indians kept the scoreboard ticking. Occasional boundaries kept the game alive. After Shadab Khan walked off the field, Fakhar Zaman was given the responsibility to complete Shadab's overs and he did his fine job with it. India will meet Pakistan again on September 23 in the same venue.

Most of all, it is the occasion that is important. Cricket fans in both nations are not prepared to take a loss from the neighbours, and that is where it becomes such a big thing. Another key issue will be how India recover from their first match with Hong Kong. The weather in Dubai is not the most conducive for playing on two successive days and this may well come into effect, as Pakistan have had a day's rest post their win over Hong Kong.
