The International Olympic Committee will work with the Indian government in drafting of the proposed Sports Bill. Sports Minister Jitendra Singh has said that the first draft is likely to be completed by June 30. Here is taking a look at what the salient features of the much debated bill:
* International Olympic Committee (IOC) being the supreme authority of Olympic movement, in its Charter has categorically imposed restrictions on age and tenure of its office bearers.

Tenure: 12 years (with or without any break) in case of President and 8 years (with a cooling off period of 4 years) for any other Office Bearer of various NSF's including the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
Retirement: 70 years
* 25 per cent of representation in each sports body has to be of former sportspersons.
* Office bearers of the NSF's have been declared as "public authorities" as defined under section 2(h) of the RTI Act.
* The Preamble has also addressed the public concern of accountability of these sport bodies. In the Preamble it has summarily stated that the Bill seeks to recognize these sports federations as bodies performing public functions.
