Yuvraj Singh has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup. The star all-rounder injured his ankle while batting in the crucial Group 2 match of the Super 10 stage against Australia in Mohali on Sunday.
India will miss Yuvraj in Thursday's T20 World Cup semifinal against the West Indies in Mumbai. Manish Pandey has replaced Yuvraj, who scored a vital 21 runs against Australia.
Yuvraj also grabbed the vital wicket of Steven Smith. The Australian captain was controversially given out caught behind by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The 26-year-old Pandey from Karnataka has played two T20 internationals, which were against Zimbabwe in Harare in July last year. He has also played four ODIs.
The right-handed Pandey, who made a century in his last appearance for India - in the fifth and final One-Day International against Australia in Sydney, arrived in Mumbai on Monday night.
Speaking ahead of India's clash against the West Indies, team director Ravi Shastri said that Yuvraj will be a big miss.
"Yuvraj will be missed. He bowled well against Australia and also scored some runs," said Shatsri.
