18:45 hrs IST: That is all we have from Mumbai. The next match is between the 2012 champions West Indies and the 2014 champions Sri Lanka in Bangalore.

18:40 hrs IST: Here are the post match quotes

Faf du Plessis: I felt like Deja vu of the England game. It is tough and you are under pressure. You need somebody to stand up. Today, we had Chris Morris. But we need to get better in the first three overs.

Stanikzai: The total was too high. The wicket was good for batting. This experience will be good for us.

18:25 hrs IST: Rabada cleans up Shapoor Zadran and South Africa win by 37 runs. This will get their campaign back on track but Afghanistan will be mighty pleased with the effort. Their score of 172 against a South Africa attack will put them in good stead ahead of their matches against England and West Indies.

18:17 hrs IST: WICKET! Morris cleans up Rashid Khan with a yorker after conceding two fours. This has been a decent performance by Afghanistan. Shahzad, in particular, has given the fans plenty to smile.

18:00 hrs IST: Missed run-out. Superb work from Wiese. Shenwari hesitates in taking the single as he taps it to point. Wiese runs to his left and as he tumbles, he has a shy at the bowler's end but he misses, Shenwari would have been a goner.

17:55 hrs IST: Shenwari is playing a decent cameo. However, the asking rate is mounting for Afghanistan.

17:50 hrs IST: Samiullah Shenwari gets off to a flier. Wiese again misses his line and length as he concedes 14 runs in his third over. Afghanistan are 124/4 after 13 overs, need 86 off 42 balls.

16:57 hrs IST: BANG! In the slot and Shahzad capitalises. Kyle Abbott floats a full ball outside off and the burly Afghan batsman whacks him over deep mid wicket.

16:56 hrs IST: This is not good news for South Africa. JP Duminy, who was chasing an attempted catch at third man, is clutching his left hamstring and he has gone off the field. This does not look good.

16:54 hrs IST: Wonderful start for Afghanistan. Shahzad goes for the slog and the outside edge flies over third man for a six. In the next ball, he goes for the drive and ends up scything it over deep point for a four. Afghanistan are 10/0 in the first over.

16:05 hrs IST: Wonderful batting from de Villiers. He unfurls the reverse sweep and gets a boundary. However, on the next ball, Rashid drops de Villiers and he gets a life. This could prove to be costly.

15:56 hrs IST: The onus is on De Villiers and Duminy to get South Africa to a good score. Afghanistan have fought back well.

Afghanistan wickets 2003

Faf du Plessis run out (Nabi/Shahzad) 41 (27).

15:37 hrs IST: Both Proteas batsmen are using the sweep shot well. De Kock sweeps to long leg for a single while du Plessis connects well with the sweep to find the deep square leg boundary.

15:33 hrs IST: Wonderful shot from du Plessis. Nabi drags it short and slow on middle stump, the skipper backs away and wallops it over deep extra cover for another maximum.

15:29 hrs IST: Rashid Khan, the 17-year-old legspinner, is into the attack. Can he stifle the scoring? He does by giving away just two runs.

Quinton de Kock Afghanistan 2003
Quinton de Kock got off to yet another fast start as South Africa punished Afghanistan in Mumbai.

Hashim Amla Afghanistan 2003
Hashim Amla departed cheaply but South Africa got off to a great start against Afghanistan.

15:12 hrs IST: WICKET! Big blow for South Africa and Shapoor is pumped. Full ball outside off, Amla looks to drive over mid-off but ends up toe-ending it, Asghar Stanikzai takes the catch. Amla c Stanikzai b Shapoor 5 (5). South Africa 25/1 (2.3 overs).

15:10 hrs IST: Shapoor Zadran is into the attack but the runs just keep coming. Amla shuffles to the off side and drives a full ball to deep backward point

15:07 hrs IST: Poor start this for Afghanistan. Dawlat provides width outside off and De Kock cracks the cut past deep point for yet another boundary. Already he has hit five boundaries.

14:52 hrs IST: Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock are coming out to the middle. Both these players gave South Africa a brilliant start against England.

14:50 hrs IST: The South African and Afghan teams are out in the middle for the national anthems. With England's win against South Africa, the group is wide open and Afghanistan can deepen the conundrum if they defeat the Proteas.

Afghanistan (Playing XI): Mohammad Shahzad(w), Noor Ali Zadran, Asghar Stanikzai(c), Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Nabi, Samiullah Shenwari, Najibullah Zadran, Rashid Khan, Amir Hamza, Dawlat Zadran, Shapoor Zadran

South Africa (Playing XI): Quinton de Kock(w), Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis(c), AB de Villiers, Jean-Paul Duminy, David Miller, Chris Morris, Kyle Abbott, David Wiese, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir

14:35 hrs IST: South Africa Win toss and opt to bat against Afghanistan. Dale Steyn will not play, and David Wiese is replacing him.

Hashim Amla De Kock
South African openers Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla would be crucial to their chances against Afghanistan.

South African batsmen are in form as Hashim Amla, Quinton De Kock and Jean-paul Duminy scored half-centuries in their last match against England to notch a total of 229/4. But their bowlers could not compliment their batsmen's efforts and let England chase down the big target, which is also the highest run-chase in World T20 history. (World T20: Cannot Take Afghanistan For Granted, Says South Africa's Hashim Amla)

The likes of Kagiso Rabada, Dale Steyn, Kyle Abbott, Imran Tahir need to pull up their socks if they want to qualify for the semifinals.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, are coming into the match after a loss to Sri Lanka. Captain Asghar Stanikzai and Samiullah Shenwari are in form and they to carry it against South Africa. Their bowlers like Dawlat Zadran, Hamid Hassan and Rashid Khan need to perform too.
