Real Madrid carried their Spanish Primer Liga form that has seen them with three out of three into Europe with a 2-1 win over Werder Bremen.

Madrid opened the scoring in the 16th minute through captain Raul Gonzalez netting his record 57th goal in 115 Champions League games after being set up brilliantly by Dutchman Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
Werder did level the match in the 17th minute through Ivory Coast International Boubacar Sanogo.
Raul then returned the favour in the 74th minute by setting up Van Nistelrooy for his 54th goal in all European competitions.
