Karachi:

Pakistan selectors may prefer rookie leg-spinner Yasir Shah over experienced Danish Kaneria in the upcoming one-dayers against Bangladesh, sources said on Saturday.

Sources close to the national selection committee said that chief selector Abdul Qadir was very keen to give Yasir a try in next month's away series.

"Qadir rates Yasir very highly and while captain Younis Khan and coach Intikhab Alam want the senior leg-spinner Danish Kaneria to be played in the series, the selectors feel Yasir is a good prospect for limited overs cricket," one source said.

He said besides Yasir, who hails from the North West Frontier Province, the selectors also want to send a new look one-day side to Bangladesh.

"They are considering blooding other young players including left-arm pacer Mohammad Aamir, opener Ahmed Shahzad and some others in the series," the source added.

Pakistan are due to tour Bangladesh immediately after the Test series against Sri Lanka, ending on March 5.
