c Rishabh Pant b Axar Patel
19.5 OUT! CAUGHT! Axar Patel delivers on his return and Pathum Nissanka will be so disappointed with that shot. Axar slows this one up a bit and tosses the ball on middle and leg, getting it to turn away from the right-hander as well. Nissanka sits down and has a big heave across the line and against the turn. The top edge is found and the ball gets skewed up around short covers. It is the keeper, Rishabh Pant who calls for it and takes a simple catch. Kohl was coming in from covers but thankfully, he heard Pant and left it alone. Nissanka departs five runs shy of his fifty and the opening partnership is finally broken. 89/1

Avishka Fernando | 96 | 102 | 9 | 2 | 94.11 |
lbw b Riyan Parag
35.3 OUT! LBW! Riyan Parag answers right back and picks up his maiden ODI wicket, a huge one as well. Dishes out another leg-break does Parag and slows it up, bowling it full onto middle. Avishka Fernando leans on and presents the full face of the bat to defend but is beaten past the inside edge and gets hit on the pads, right in front of the stumps. A huge appeal from the Indians and the finger goes up. No review from Fernando and Parag is pumped. Sri Lanka 171/2 in 35.3 overs as Fernando departs for 96, absolute heartbreak for him. 171/2

Kusal Mendis Wk | 59 | 82 | 4 | 0 | 71.95 |
c Shubman Gill b Kuldeep Yadav
48.4 OUT! CAUGHT! No evidence of Shubman Gill touching the boundary cushion and it will be OUT! Kuldeep Yadav has dragged this one right back, bowling it short over middle and leg, Kusal Mendis goes deep in his crease to pull it aerially but gets it a lot straight and high off the bat. The ball goes high towards wide long on where Gill tracks back a bit and completes the catch. Gill has the presence of mind to lob the ball up before going over the stumps and comes back in to pouch it safely. End of a gritty knock from Mendis. 235/7

Charith Asalanka C | 10 | 12 | 0 | 1 | 83.33 |
lbw b Riyan Parag
38 OUT! LBW! A huge appeal and given! Charith Asalanka has a word with his partner and does take the review. Smart bowling this from Riyan Parag as this is bowled much quicker and angled into the pads on a good length but the ball straightens down the line and Asalanka ends up playing all over it as he looks to flick it away. The ball hits Asalanka on the back leg right in front of the pads. Nothing on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking shows three reds. Two wickets in the last two overs for Parag and India roaring back into this first innings. 183/3

Sadeera Samarawickrama | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
lbw b Mohammed Siraj
38.5 OUT! LBW! Excellent review and finally, something to be happy about for Mohammed Siraj after a torrid time with the ball so far. Brute of a delivery from Siraj as he races in and slips in a yorker on middle stump, getting the ball to reverse a bit as well. Sadeera Samarawickrama is on the front foot and looks to dig it out and does so on the off side but the ball seems to have taken the boot first. A huge appeal but it is turned down and at the last moment, Rohit Sharma does review it. UltraEdge does confirm that the ball hit the boot first and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. 184/4

Janith Liyanage | 8 | 12 | 1 | 0 | 66.66 |
b Washington Sundar
42.4 OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! India keep picking up those wickets and again, Sri Lankan middle order has collapsed dramatically! Washington Sundar stays around the pegs and darts it on a flatter trajectory with a quicker pace, on a fuller length and across off. It skids through quickly after pitching on the surface. Janith Liyanage shuffles to the off stump and goes back to block it out in a weird way as he gets deceived by the pace on. Inside edges into the stumps. Half of the Lankan side is into the sheds now. 196/5

Dunith Wellalage | 2 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 66.66 |
b Riyan Parag
43.3 OUT! BOWLED'EM! OUTCLASSED! Riyan Parag stays around the stumps, and drops it flat and on the middle stump line. Gets a bit of a turn away from the batter. Dunith Wellalage stays leg side of the ball and goes for a back foot defence but plays it inside the line of the ball anticipating it to straighten after pitching. The ball skids through very quickly after pitching and beats his outside edge and crashes into the pegs. Riyan Parag is all pumped up as he gets his third wicket and the man in-form with the bat, Dunith Wellalage goes without much troubling the scorers. 199/6

c Kusal Mendis b Dunith Wellalage
7.1 OUT! EDGED AND GONE! A sharp catch behind the stumps from Kusal Mendis and Dunith Wellalage gets the big wicket. Wellalage tosses the ball up, wide of off stump and not quite full either. The ball grips and turns away big as Rohit Sharma sits down to play that favorable slog sweep. Sharma goes against the turn though and gets a faint bottom edge on it. Kusal just moves to his right and pouches it with both gloves, excellent take given that one turned and bounced extra as well. For the first time this series, Sri Lanka have managed to send back Sharma before his fifty and India in a bit of early bother. 53/2
|
|||||
Shubman Gill | 6 | 14 | 0 | 0 | 42.85 |
b Asitha Fernando
4.3 OUT! TIMBER! Asitha Fernando sends Shubman Gill packing and Sri Lanka have an early wicket. Fernando bustles in and hits the deck hard at 132 KPH on middle, getting it to just angle back in. Gill tries to break the shackles by coming down the pitch and has a wild swing across the line but the ball keeps a tad low and beats the ball to smash into the stumps. Gill hasn't looked settled throughout this ODI series and departs for another low score. 37/1

Virat Kohli | 20 | 18 | 4 | 0 | 111.11 |
lbw b Dunith Wellalage
10.5 OUT! LBW! An appeal for LBW and up goes the finger! Virat Kohli sends it upstairs for a review! Dunith Wellalage stays around the stumps and lands it in the channel of the middle and leg with an in-drift on a fullish length. It comes off quickly from the deck. Virat Kohli strides out for a front foot defence as he anticipates the ball to turn but it straightens up and he plays it over the line of the ball and gets rapped on the front pad. UltraEdge shows there's nothing on it. Ball Tracking confirms it is pitching inside the line of the stumps and is hitting the stumps. A massive, massive scalp for Sri Lanka as Virat Kohli departs on 20. The top four of India have blown away in a quick succession. 71/4
|
|||||
Rishabh Pant Wk | 6 | 9 | 1 | 0 | 66.66 |
st Kusal Mendis b Maheesh Theekshana
9.2 OUT! STUMPED! Maheesh Theekshana comes back into the attack and picks up a wicket, India now 3 down for 63 inside the first Powerplay. Rishabh Pant pre-meditates and walks down the pitch as Theekshana flights it up on a dragged length and gets the ball to turn away. Pant is beaten in the flight and ends up just walking past the ball. Kusal Mendis has all the time in the world to dislodge the bails. Poor from Pant as there was no need to do that. 63/3
|
|||||
Shreyas Iyer | 8 | 7 | 2 | 0 | 114.28 |
lbw b Dunith Wellalage
12.5 OUT! LBW! Another huge appeal and the finger goes up again! Shreyas Iyer with that grim look on his face goes upstairs! This is pitched on the leg stump line, shade fuller in length and straightens after pitching. Shreyas Iyer goes back and across but opens his body to tuck it to the leg side and gets pinged on the front pad. Nothing on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking confirms three reds. The on-field decision stays and India burn a review here, but worse, India lose their 6th wicket. Dunith Wellalage has completely run through the Indian middle order. He gets his fourth wicket and Sri Lanka are sniffing a historic series win already with the Premadasa echoing to its fullest. 82/6
|
|||||
Axar Patel | 2 | 7 | 0 | 0 | 28.57 |
b Dunith Wellalage
12.1 OUT! OUTCLASSED! OUTFOXED! This is a sensational bowling display from Dunith Wellalage. He stays around the stumps and lands it on a flatter trajectory with a quicker pace on a length and on the middle stump line. It turns degrees into the batter and Axar Patel is totally squared up for room. He finds himself in a weird position to negotiate with the excessive turn and bounce and the ball crashes into the stumps. Sri Lankans are all pumped up and why not! Half of the Indian side is back into the sheds in the 13th over itself. 73/5
|
|||||
Riyan Parag | 15 | 13 | 2 | 0 | 115.38 |
b Jeffrey Vandersay
16 OUT! BOWLED'EM! It's getting from bad to worse now for India! 7th wicket down on a paltry 100. A googly now, around off, fuller in length. Riyan Parag takes out a big stride and expects the ball to turn away and looks to leave it alone but the ball stays straight after pitching and skids quickly as well. Riyan Parag is left two-minded whether to hit or leave it and the ball, within a fraction of a second dismantles the furniture. Total misjudgment from Parag and he too falls after a confident start. 100/7

|||||
Shivam Dube | 9 | 14 | 1 | 0 | 64.28 |
lbw b Jeffrey Vandersay
17.3 OUT! LBW! An appeal and 'Out' says the umpire raising his finger. Dube cannot challenge it as India have no reviews left now. Jeffrey Vandersay lands it flat and full right in front of the stumps, and gets a bit of turn into the southpaw. Shivam Dube walks down a couple of steps and sits down to sweep it hard over the leg side but plays over the line of the ball and does not connect the shot at all. Gets rapped on the thigh pad of his back leg. Dube wants a review but India have burnt both of them and walks back in absolute distraught. India lose their 8th wicket. Sri Lanka just a couple of wickets away from a historic series win. 101/8

Washington Sundar | 30 | 25 | 2 | 3 | 120 |
c Jeffrey Vandersay b Maheesh Theekshana
26 OUT! CAUGHT! Jeffrey Vandersay hangs onto the catch on the second attempt and Sri Lanka have the wicket they wanted. Maheesh Theekshana flights the ball up on a dragged length around off stump and draws Washington Sundar forward. Sundar leans on and looks to loft it away but has to reach for it and ends up skiing it over mid off. Vandersay comes in from the long off fence and moves to his right before fumbling the ball but he manages to regain composure and snatches it on the second attempt. Sundar departs after a fighting knock and Sri Lanka are one wicket away from victory. 138/9

|||||
Kuldeep Yadav | 6 | 30 | 0 | 0 | 20 |
lbw b Dunith Wellalage
26.1 OUT! LBW! HISTORY HAS BEEN SCRIPTED AT THE 'KHETTARAMA'! And the 27-year long wait has finally come to an end for Sri Lanka. Dunith Wellalage hustles from around the stumps and dishes out a flighted conventional off-break around the middle and off stump line. Kuldeep Yadav sits down on his knee to sweep it away but completely misses and plays over the line of the ball, wearing it on the front pad and right in front of the pegs. Joel Wilson raises up his finger and the crowd erupts in delight and pride as Sri Lanka beat India by a huge margin of 110 runs. The hosts seal the series by 2-0. And in all fairness to say, the Lankan spinners have outnumbered the Indian batters in this ODI series. Dunith Wellalage finish off with a spectacular 5-fer. 138/10
