Such was the impact of the mind-boggling hitting from Corey Anderson that Mumbai Indian skipper Rohit Sharma could not believe that they have pulled off one of the most dramatic wins in this IPL. (MI vs RR: As It Happened)
Anderson smashed six sixes and nine fours in his unbeaten 95-run knock that enabled Mumbai Indians chase off an improbable target of 190 in just 14.4 overs.
"It will take a little while to get my heartbeat down. Nothing is impossible. This kind of performance, doesn't come every day. This is for the people of Mumbai. It was a fantastic victory. Anderson was unbelievable," Sharma said.
The MI skipper was all praise for Ambati Rayudu and Aditya Tare, who smacked a six to finish the match in style. Anderson too lauded them for their efforts in Mumbai's sensational victory.
"Rayudu played a little cameo there and hats off to Tare. We knew whatever target we see in front of us, we gotta go and chase it. There was no pressure on us and we knew we had hit our stride quickly. We were in a similar situation in the Champions League, so we had the belief. And only brighter things are yet to come," he said.
Man of the Match Anderson said, "We knew what we needed. We let them get too many runs. I'm glad I could do something to bring them to their feet. Rayudu came in and smashed it and that last ball from Tare as well." The Kiwi batsman added,"It was about staying still and backing yourself. The thing is when you complicate things you get in trouble. People started realising we had a chance here and I wanted to be out there in the end. It doesn't get any better than this. The Mumbai crowd are unbelievable. Now I do feel at home here."
