If conceding a 4-0 lead in the five-match ODI series against Australia wasn't bad enough, India will probably miss Ajinkya Rahane in the three-match Twenty series, starting January 26.(Scorecard | Highlights)
Rahane received four stitches in the webbing of his right hand while fielding in the Canberra ODI. Though he came to bat, he could score only two off seven balls. Ultimately, India lost the match by 25 runs chasing Australia's total 348/8.
The No.4 batsman Rahane, who scored 50 and 89 in the Melbourne and Brisbane ODIs, respectively, has been the most consistent player in the Indian middle-order.
Trailing 3-0 in the five-match series, India need to win at least one match to keep their No. 2 ODI ranking intact. With Rahane's loss and a huge target to chase, the task just got tougher for the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side.
