Virat Kohli Resumes Aussie Domination, Hits 4th Ton of Series

Virat Kohli continued to strengthen his strong grip over Australia with his fourth scintillating century of the series on Wednesday at the SCG. (Scorecard | Day 3 Blog)

Kohli, who started the day with 499 runs in the series, became only the second Indian, after Rahul Dravid (619 runs from 8 innings in 2003-04), to score 500-plus runs in a Test series in Australia. Kohli also stis atop an illustrious list for most runs by a visiting No. 4 batsman in Australia. Kohli also became the first player in the history of the sport to hit three centuries in first three innings as Test captain.

Kohli walked out to the middle at the fall of Rohit Sharma's dismissal early on Day 3 and was straight away in the groove, playing his favourite cover drive to perfection.

While Lokesh Rahul put on a solid show from the other end, Kohli was at his entertaining best, taking the bowlers on. India managed just 52 runs in the first session but the moment Kohli walked out, he threw caution to the wind and the runs began to flow quickly.

Within no time, Kohli eased away to yet another fifty and got a reprieve on 59, when he was dropped by Steve Smith at slips. The young Indian captain made the hosts rue that missed opportunity by piling on another century.
