Australia left-arm pace bowler Mitchell Johnson will miss the fourth Test against India due to a right hamstring injury.
Cricket Australia said in a statement on Sunday that Johnson had not recovered from the hamstring soreness that first affected him during the drawn third Test in Melbourne. (Related: McGrath backs Steve Smith to continue aggressive cricket)
It said Johnson was expected to play in the upcoming limited-overs international series against England and India. (Also read: Phillip Hughes' family to attend SCG Test)
Australia has clinched the Test series, and it was expected team officials would not risk Johnson with the World Cup beginning late next month.
Coach Darren Lehmann says "Mitchell is an important part of our plans for the remainder of our summer, and we want him 100 percent right."
Mitchell Starc or Peter Siddle are likely replacements for Johnson.
The match begins on Tuesday at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
