13.04 (IST): Stumps! Australia finish on 290/5, lead India by 363 runs. Warner scored another wonderful century and Steve Smith kept his form going with an unbeaten 52. The day has largely belonged to the hosts, who will hope to try and get a win on Day 5. The game seems well beyond India's reach and they will need a miracle to pull something off here on Saturday.
12.48 (IST): FIFTY for Steve Smith! His 9th in Tests. Australia 279/5
12.40 (IST): OUT! Marsh blitz comes to an end. He is gone for 40 of 26 balls. Australia 266/5.
12.32 (IST): Marsh seems to have got a signal. He smashes three sixes and a four off Karn Sharma. What a cameo he's playing.
12.25 (IST): Mitchell Marsh uses his feet to perfection and flicks one through mid-wicket for a four. Australia's lead is now 300. Australia 227/4
12.17 (IST): OUT! Karn Sharma dismisses David Warner! Warner attempts a switch hit and plays all around it. The ball clips a bail, sending Warner back to the pavilion for 102. Australia 213/4
12.03 (IST): More heated exchanges here! Rohit Sharma bowled a straight delivery, to which Smith danced down the track and offered no shot. The ball struck the pad and Rohit appealed, following which Smith had a few words to say. Virat Kohli at short thirdman was annoyed by Smith's reaction and had a word with him. Stump mic picked up Kohli asking Smith if he had a problem with everything and asked him to stay in his limits.
12.00 (IST): Century for David Warner! His second of the match. What an exceptional player, this man. Australia 195/3 vs India, lead by 268 runs.
11.31 (IST): India have done well to keep Australia's scoring rate under check since tea. Despite Warner being in the middle, Australia have managed 43 runs in 12 overs. Australia 182/3 vs India, lead by 255 runs.
11.18 (IST): Aaron strikes! Michael Clarke is gone for 7, caught behind by Saha. Australia 168/2 vs India, lead by 241 runs.
11.09 (IST): Varun Aaron comes round the stumps against Warner. Australia 162/2 vs India, lead by 235 runs.
10.42 (IST): Skipper Michael Clarke is the new man in. Aaron and Shami will surely be expected to test his dodgy back.
10.39 (IST): Shami strikes right after tea! Hint of reverse swing and the ball goes through a big bat-pad gap to hit the stumps. Beautiful sight for a bowler. Not quite for Watson. He falls for 33. Australia 140/2

10.15 (IST): End of session! Warner (69), Watson (33) take Australia to 139/1 at tea, leading India by 212 runs.
10.03 (IST): Varun Aaron is charged up here! He bowls a short delivery that hits Watson on the shoulder and runs away to the fine leg fence. A couple of balls later, there is a yorker at 148 kmph that gets Watson on the leg. A huge LBW shout is turned down. Australia 135/1
09.55 (IST): BOWLED off a No ball! Varun Aaron cleans up Warner but it's off a no ball. Conversations are heating up here. Warner walks back on and taunts Aaron. Dhawan gets in now and words are being exchanged. Australia 121/1
09.42 (IST): More part-time spin as Rohit Sharma comes into the attack. India in desperate need of a wicket here.
09.40 (IST): The crowd applauds as Warner gets to 63. Aus 114/1
09.34 (IST): Meanwhile, Sean Abbott is back to doing what he does best - picking up wickets. He has bagged his career-best figures of 6/14 in a Sheffield Shield match. Warner, who learnt about it during his knock at Adelaide, applauded the young man.

09.15 (IST): FIFTY for David Warner! His 14th in Tests. Australia (517/7d & 93/1) lead India (444) by 166 runs on Day 4
09.02 (IST): It's a packed leg-side field for Watson as Ishant tries to drift towards middle and leg stump, inviting Watson to play across the line and increase chances of a leg before dismissal. Australia 87/1
08.55 (IST): Runs are coming easily here. Warner has moved into the 40s. Watson, too is looking comfortable. The scoring rate has gone up to 4 runs an over.
08.37 (IST): FOUR! Warner gets to the pitch of a Vijay delivery and hits over mid off for a four. Australia 55/1
08.37 (IST): Another change! Kohli brings in Murali Vijay after just one over for Ishant.
08.35 (IST): Karn Sharma has been impressive in patches. Every now and then he bowls a delivery too short and wide and Warner latches onto them. He cuts one such delivery for four to bring up the fifty for Australia. Australia 50/1
08.25 (IST): Karn Sharma is back into the attack from the other end.
08.20 (IST): Interesting/baffling move this? Karn Sharma, an over after taking a wicket, has been taken out of the attack as Ishant Sharma replaces him.
08.16 (IST): Wicket for Karn Sharma! Chris Rogers is gone early in the second session. He reaches out to a delivery and plays his sweep shot in the air. His hit goes straight to Rohit Sharma at mid-wicket. Just the start India would have wanted to the session. Australia 38/1
08.10 (IST): Karn Sharma starts of the proceedings in the second session. His first spell here could be crucial. A couple of early strikes will do a world of good for Virat Kohli's men. At the moment, however, Australia hold the upper hand.
07.35 (IST): Lunch! Australia reach 32/0 at lunch, extending their lead vs India to 105 runs. It's yet another session won for the hosts, who came out and wrapped up the Indian innings thanks to a Nathan Lyon fifer. With a 73-run first innings lead in the bag, Warner and Rogers did well not lose an early wicket. The game is Australia's to lose from here. Kohli & his men face a long day on the field.
07.25 (IST): Here's how Nathan Lyon troubled India with a fifer.

07.13 (IST): Virat Kohli turns to his spinner Karn Sharma in the sixth over. Warner welcomes him with a reverse sweep for four. Five runs taken from Sharma's over. Australia 517/7 dec. & 17/0 vs India (444)
06.52 (ST): Ishant Sharma starts from the other end and continues to come round the stumps. Warner and Rogers in no hurry for runs. Australia 517/7 dec. & 2/0 vs India (444)
06.40 (IST): The Australian innings begins. Shami starts the proceedings for the visitors. Can India pick a couple of early wickets and put pressure on the hosts?

06.35 (IST): Shami is gone! That's that then! He went for another slog and edged it to Watson off Siddle. India finish on 444, giving Australia a 73-run first innings lead.
06.29 (IST): Shami is not ready to go back and bowl as yet! He comes down the track and hits Lyon over the top for a four. India 431/9 vs Australia (517/7 decl.)
06.20 (IST): FIFER for Nathan Lyon! Ishant Sharma is gone, falling for a lovely tossed up delivery. Ishant tries to push forward and an edge pops up for Smith at short leg. India 422/9 vs Australia (517/7 decl.)

06.16 (IST): OUT! Wriddhiman Saha is gone! Big, big wicket, that! He's caught at first slip by Shane Watson off Nathan Lyon. India 422/8 vs Australia (517/7 decl.)
06.07 (IST): SIX! Shami swings his bat at a Lyon delivery and connects..well almost. Peter Siddle at the deep square leg boundary makes a mess of a straightforward chance and concedes a six. India 419/7 vs Australia (517/7 decl.)
06.03 (IST): FOUR! Mohammed Shami is no mug with the bat! He walks out and cuts Siddle behind point for a four. India 410/7 vs Australia (517/7 decl.)
06.01 (IST): OUT! Peter Siddle cleans up Karn Sharma, who looked to play across the line and the ball travelled through his bat-pad gap and crashed onto the wickets. India 406/7 vs Australia (517/7 decl.)
05.51 (IST): Pressure on Saha now! He has the tail to bat with. India go past the 400-run mark but still trail by over 100 runs. Karn Sharma is the new man in.
05.47 (IST): OUT! Rohit Sharma is gone as Lyon takes a good, diving return catch off his bowling. Rohit is gone for 43. India 399/6 vs Australia (517/7 decl.)
05.47 (IST): FOUR! Rohit Sharma dances down the track and hits a Lyon delivery over the mid-on fielder for four. India 399/5 vs Australia (517/7 decl.)
05.38 (IST): Another bowling change as Peter Siddle comes into the attack.
05.36 (IST): Interesting how different Indian batsman has approached Lyon. The off-spinner has got some extra bounce and lot of turn and is expected to continue that today. Early signs suggests Rohit's answer is the sweep shot while Saha prefers to play on the backfoot. Both need to be wary of the extra bounce Lyon is getting off the surface.
05.35 (IST): Michael Clarke throws the ball to his best bowler from Day 3 - off-spinner Nathan Lyon.
05.32 (IST): FOURS! Wriddhiman Saha gets two poor deliveries from Mitchell Johnson and he makes the most of it. First it's a rank full toss outside the off-stump. Saha wasn't in complete control of his shot but did enough to hit it through covers. Next he gets a full delivery outside the off-stump and picks the gap with sublime timing. India 387/5 vs Australia (517/7 decl.)
05.26 (IST): Early movement? Harris is getting the ball to shape slightly into Rohit. He needs to be careful while playing forward on the front foot.
05.25 (IST): Rohit and Saha have started slowly here. Just eight runs off six overs so far. India 377/5 vs Australia (517/7 decl.)
05.09 (IST): Good, disciplined start from Australia! Both Ryan Harris and Mitchell Johnson bowl a tight line and length first up. Rohit Sharma and Wriddhiman Saha have a tough task ahead. India 374/5 vs Australia (517/7 decl.)

04.42 (IST): Mitchell Marsh is out in the middle, warming up ahead of an intriguing fourth day's play. Can Australia peg India back? Or will Rohit Sharma & Co. give India a lead in the first innings?

India gave a perfect reply to Australia, who after declaring at 517 for seven decided to make full use of the early morning conditions by having a crack at the young Indian batting line-up. Cheteshwar Pujara (73), Ajinkya Rahane (62) and Murali Vijay (53) were solid in their approach but they wasted their good starts and failed to emulate Australia's three first-innings centurions -- Steve Smith (162 not out), David Warner (145) and Michael Clarke (128).
India ended the day at 369 for five with Rohit Sharma (33*) and Wriddhiman Saha (1*) at the crease. The visitors are still trailing by 148 runs in their first innings.
Virat Kohli became the fourth Indian after Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar to score a hundred on Test captaincy debut. But Mitchell Johnson's bouncer that hit Kohli on the helmet in the first ball he faced was the talking point of the day. Bowling bouncers has become a sensitive issue following the death of Australian Test batsman Phillip Hughes, after he was fatally struck in the head by a short-pitched delivery in a domestic game late last month.

Fortunately, all was well and Kohli went on to score a fighting 115 off 184 balls and his determination and character left former India captain Gavaskar awestruck.
Kohli is captaining India in the absence of MS Dhoni, who is recovering from a hairline fracture of his thumb and is expected to resume his post for next week's second Test in Brisbane.
Mumbai pace spearhead Dhawal Kulkarni is being sent to Australia on an urgent basis as replacement for injured Indian seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is not part of the first Test.
