Legendary Indian cricket team batter Krishnamachari Srikkanth blasted BCCI over ignoring Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Ruturaj did not find a place in the India squad despite good performances in IPL 2024 and Srikkanth was not happy with BCCI adding Shubman Gill to the reserve list. Srikkanth accused the team management of 'favouritism' and said that Gill seems to get chances even when he is not performing in any format. Ruturaj is currently the highest run-scorer in IPL 2024 with 509 runs while Gill is in the 13th spot with 320 runs.
"Shubman Gill is totally out of form, but why he's selected in the team. There's no doubt that Ruturaj Gaikwad deserves a place. He scored more than 500 runs in 17 innings. Also he scored a century against Australia. Shubman Gill is selectors' delight. He gets chance even if he fails. He finds place even if he fails in Test, ODIs and T20s.There's too much of favoritism in selection. The team selection is all about favoritism," Srikkanth said in a video on his YouTube channel 'Cheeky Chekka.'
“Gill playing ahead of Rutu baffles me. Be is out of form and Rutu has had a better t20i career than gill. Gill will keep failing and he ll keep getting chances, he has favouritism of the selectors, this is just too much of favouritism” Krishnamachari Srikanth in his YT vid pic.twitter.com/PJmeiihxVx
