Ajinkya Rahane entered the record books on Friday when he became the first non-wicketkeeper player to claim eight catches in a single Test match. His fielding left Sri Lankan batting in shambles on Day 3 of the first Test at Galle. (Scorecard)
Rahane caught Rangana Herath in the final session of play to complete the remarkable feat of eight catches. His other victims in the ongoing Test include Dimuth Karunaratne, Lahiru Thirimanne and Dinesh Chandimal in the first innings and Dhammika Prasad, Kumar Sangakkara, Thirimanne, Jehan Mubarak, and Herath in the second.
The world record for most catches -by any fielder - in a Test match is jointly held by England's Jack Russell and South African AB de Villiers who have 11 to their name.
