India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha scored his second fifty in Test cricket as the visitors edged ahead slightly against Sri Lanka at the P. Sara Oval on Friday.

- Just 214 runs have been posted on Friday - the second lowest on the second day of a Test match at P.Sara Oval, Colombo - the least being 191 runs on the second day by Sri Lanka and England in April 2012.
- Wriddhiman Saha (56) has posted his second fifty in Tests - his highest is 60 vs Sri Lanka at Galle in the first Test of the present series. (Sangakkara's Guard-of-Honour)
- Saha is the only wicketkeeper to record two half-centuries for India in Tests vs Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. Mahendra Singh Dhoni had just a fifty in 2010 - 76 off 138 balls at Colombo, SSC in 2010.
- India (393) have posted their third highest total vs Sri Lanka at P.Sara Oval, Colombo - their highest being 446 in 1993. In 2010 at this venue, they had posted 436.
- Amit Mishra has managed 64 runs at an average of 32.00 in two innings at Colombo (PSS) - his joint-highest aggregate at one venue in Tests. His highest aggregate at one venue is 127 in two innings at The Oval. - As compared to his home batting average of 12.62 in eight Tests, Mishra averages 28.33 in seven overseas Tests.
- Karunaratne averages just 3.33 in three innings vs India - his tally being 10 - the sequence of scores being 9 & 0 at Galle and 1 at Colombo, PSS
- Kaushal Silva (51) has posted his 9th fifty in Tests -his first vs India.
- In two innings at Colombo, PSS, Silva has managed two fifties - 80 vs Pakistan in June 2015 and 51 vs India.
- The last fifty-run opening stand for Sri Lanka was 85 by Dimuth Karunaratne and Kaushal Silva vs New Zealand at Christchurch in December 2014. Since then Sri Lankan opening pairs are yet to register a stand of fifty in eleven innings in a row. In their last eleven consecutive innings, they could total only 247 runs in eleven innings at an average of 22.45.
- For the fourth time in a Test innings, Umesh Yadav has bowled five maiden overs in an innings - twice vs Australia and once each vs Sri Lanka and West Indies.
