It was a day of mixed fortunes for India in the first day of the second Test at the P Sara Oval in Colombo. After choosing to bat, Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane perished cheaply but they were rescued by a magnificent second Test century from Lokesh Rahul and his 164-run stand with skipper Virat Kohli, who missed out on his 12th Test century. Rohit Sharma played a potentially career-defining knock but his dismissal towards the fag end of the day has tilted the scales in Sri Lanka's favour.(Lokesh Rahul Wanted to Bat on After Ton)

However, the real test begins now for India. The onus will be on the Indian bowlers to stand up and make themselves count after an indifferent performance in the first Test.(Gavaskar Feels Current Indian Bowlers Can't Take Five Wickets)
After the end of the first day of the second Test, Sunil Gavaskar said that barring a couple, India do not have bowlers who can pick up five wickets on a consistent basis.('Rahane Sacrificed at No.3')
"Maybe Ishant Sharma on a good day and R Ashwin, but no one else. The team has good bowlers like Umesh Yadav and Amit Mishra who can take a couple of wickets. The Indian team does not have an allrounder who can come to bat at number six and give them that extra option," he said.(Rahul Leads India's Charge With Century)

In the first Test, only R Ashwin looked the most threatening of the bowlers when he picked up 10 wickets in the match, including 6/46 in the first innings at Galle. The rest of the bowlers did not chip in regularly and they allowed the likes of Dinesh Chandimal to seize the initiative and take the game away.(Kohli Misses 12th Test Ton)
For Sri Lanka, they will be aiming to run through the Indian tail on the second day and hope that Sangakkara contributes a big score. The crowd at the P Sara Oval will be waiting with bated breath when Sangakkara strides out to the middle. The second day will be crucial for both teams as they look to dictate terms in this match.(Sangakkara Gets Guard of Honour)
