The cycling time trial will take place on the roads around the iconic Hampton Court Palace, formerly home to some of Britain's most famous kings and queens, including Henry VIII.
Although this place has not been inhabited by the British Royal Family since the 18th century, having a sporting event here is sure to have competing athletes zapped in history and legacy of the country. Originally built in 1524, it is a major tourist attraction today and is where the Hampton Court Palace Festival and the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show takes place.
It also has a rich sports tradition, as the palace is home to the oldest surviving real tennis court in England. There is also an 18-hole golf course in the palace grounds.
