Mumbai:

Pune Warriors India's regular skipper Yuvraj Singh will be present at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali when they take on Kings XI Punjab in an Indian Premier League fixture tomorrow. Pune have won both games they have played so far.

"Yuvraj has agreed to come to the stadium to cheer the side. He was our captain last season and he is still part of this family. We congratulate him on winning his battle against cancer. He will spend some time with the players in the dressing room before the match," Sahara India Parivar's corporate communications head Abhijit Sarkar told MiD DAY yesterday.

Team owners, Sahara will organise a small programme before the match to mark Yuvraj's return to India. "We plan to congratulate him through a small felicitation ceremony before the match," Sarkar said.

The Punjab southpaw returned home from the United States via London on Monday. Yuvraj had been resting in London for some time after undergoing treatment for three months at the Boston Institute of Cancer Research.

Good wishes pour in

Meanwhile, good wishes poured in for India's 2011 World Cup hero. Former Kings XI Punjab teammate Mahela Jayawardene, England batsman Kevin Pietersen and Delhi Dardevils skipper Virender Sehwag wished him a speedy recovery.

Jayawardene appeared deeply concerned. "We were playing in Australia when I first heard the news. I could not get through to him, but managed to speak with his manager. I'm very happy with what has been done with him in the US. The most important thing is that he is in good spirits. It's great news," he said.

Sehwag confirmed that he would meet the Punjab star personally. "I'm happy he is back. We all prayed for him. Good that he is back in rehabilitation. I'll go and see him in a couple of days."

Pietersen spoke emotively hours after Yuvraj's arrival: "I was lucky enough to speak to Yuvraj before boarding the flight to Delhi. I'm a good friend of his and to see a fellow professional suffer is not a nice feeling. As sportspersons, it is our duty to help fellow professionals through bad times. I plan to meet him this week," the English batsman said.
