Gautam Gambhir has had a horrid Indian Premier League 2014 so far. The pain eased a bit on Tuesday night when he followed up scores of 0,0 and 1 with a watchful 44-ball 45. Although Kolkata Knight Riders lost the match against Rajasthan Royals (on boundary count), the skipper has urged fans to continue supporting the team as IPL returns to Indian shores. In a tweet on Wednesday, Gambhir thanked fans for their support and promised them that Kolkata Knight Riders would bounce back in the games to come.
My big thanks to all you KKR supporters. Don't worry our team will bounce back. Your faith in KKR will work wonders.

Kolkata Knight Riders are currently placed fourth in the points table after two wins and three defeats. Gambhir in particular has been criticized for his shoddy performance with the bat. The heat on him though seemed to douse a bit when his first boundary in this edition of IPL was greeted with a massive cheer on Tuesday. "It was important for me to get some runs. Hopefully, from hereon I can be more aggressive at the top," he said after the match. "It was a great game of cricket, the crowd enjoyed it but we are disappointed to lose. We deserved to be in a better position because we played some good cricket." (KXIP, the comprehensive winners of UAE)
Gambhir has emphasized right from the start that Kolkata Knight Riders' strength lies in the team's bowling. While Sunil Narine continues to be the highest wicket-taker (9) in the tournament, Gambhir would hope for himself and his fellow batsmen to step up and score big on conducive Indian pitches. Kolkata Knight Riders' first match in India this year is scheduled for May 5 when the team plays Rajasthan once again, in Ahmedabad.
