Live Score - India vs Sri Lanka updates
That is all we have for you tonight. Do join us on Sunday, 9th November at 0800 GMT (1330 IST) for the third ODI. That could very well end the series looking at the way the teams are playing. Only time will tell whether Sri Lanka can avoid dead rubbers. Adios! Take Care!
AMBATI RAYUDU HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. He is happy and wants to dedicate this special moment to his father. Credits the coach, Kohli, Dhoni and everyone else who has given him confidence. Adds that his main aim was to guide the chase and bat through but is glad that he could get to a ton. On his batting position, he is happy to abide by what his captain decides.
Virat Kohli says that a lot of confidence was entrusted on the youngsters, keeping them happy and not putting them under any pressure, and the blokes have responded. Admits cheekily that losing the toss was a blessing in disguise as there was dew later on in the evening. Does not want to disclose any plans for the third ODI. On sending Rayudu at number 3, Kohli says that this is the time that Rayudu needs backing so that he can bat well later on at any stage, as MS Dhoni also did the same with him(Kohli). On his belated birthday wishes, he thanks the crowd for its wishes.
Angelo Mathews is obviously disappointed and admits that Sri Lanka were 40-50 runs short and 300 makes a lot of difference. Puts it down to losing wickets at crucial intervals. Agrees that a team needs to go all out against the Indian batting line-up but so far, they have not been up to it. Is disappointed with what he calls 'embarrassing' performances tonight and in the first ODI.
Sri Lanka only enjoyed the first 10 overs with the ball. After that it was total demolition. Prasanna managed to save some face with 3 wickets but that was more due to the fact that the Indians were aiming to finish the game early.
India got off to a slow start, losing Rahane early but after the Powerplay, Dhawan started to spread his wings. Rayudu then joined in the party and then it was cruise mode for the Indians. Dhawan departed to a rash shot but India were never in trouble.
Comprehensive win for India again. They have made a mockery of a target of 275 winning with 5.3 overs to spare. With this victory, INDIA MOVE UP TO THE NUMBER 1 SPOT IN THE ICC ODI RANKINGS.
FOUR! Rayudu fittingly finishes it in style! Flighted outside off, Rayudu comes down the track and lofts it inside out over cover for a boundary! INDIA WIN BY 6 WICKETS AND LEAD THE SERIES 2-0!
The batsman works it down the leg side. They pick up a single.
RAVINDRA JADEJA walks out.
