World T20: Bangladesh vs Oman
So! We have our 10 teams for the main stage. Afghanistan join the group of Sri Lanka, South Africa, England and West Indies while Bangladesh join the other group. Hopefully, we will have an exciting WT20. Do join us for all the action from the first encounter when 2014 finalists India, take on New Zealand at Nagpur on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 1930 IST (1400 GMT). Adios! Take Care!
SULTAN AHMED, the Oman skipper admits that his team tried its best but Tamim Iqbal's innings made the difference. On the performance of his side in the competition, he says that they had a good summer and a couple of months which resulted in them playing in this event. Apologizes to Oman's supporters for their early exit.
Bangladesh skipper MASHRAFE MORTAZA thanks the Almighty for the support. Also adds they are looking forward for the next round. On Tamim, he says it is good when the top order performs well but he also wants the middle order to perform while playing in the Super 10s. On being asked about Bangladesh's rise, he mentions they are playing fearless cricket and thanks his coach as they play to win above failure.
TAMIM IQBAL, MAN OF THE MATCH, says the next stage is the important one for them as they play Pakistan next. On his form he adds he played calmly and tried to play cricketing shots and thus it was coming well. Also says this was his best innings in this format. About his consistency, he says that domestic cricket in the last 6 months helped him. Asked about the next stage, Tamim is confident of a good show.
Sad exit for Oman. They promised a lot in the first game and did well for the first few overs of this match but then Tamim and Sabbir took it away from them. While batting, they never looked up for the challenge. Hopefully they would have learnt something about pressure from this competition.
Bangladesh made profits from whatever they put their hands on. Taskin and Al-Amin bowled excellently with the new ball while Shakib ran through the middle order with a 4-fer. A thoroughly comprehensive victory.
It was set up in the first innings itself, thanks to the big partnership from Tamim and Sabbir, with the former getting to his maiden T20I century and also becoming the first player from his nation to do so. Rain played spoilsport in the second innings and hampered the chase but to he honest, Oman were never really in it. Just two batsmen made it into double figures and the constant breaks in play did not help them either.
Comfortable win for Bangladesh. They now join India, Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan in the next round. They hammered 180 with the bat and then did not allow Oman to get away in whatever time they got to bowl. A commendable performance, which suggests that they are not a team to be messed around with.
Last ball on the off side, a tossed up ball, Bilal Khan punches it to long off for a single. AS PER THE D/L METHOD, BANGLADESH WIN BY 54 RUNS.
BILAL KHAN to face the final ball of the match.
