World Cup 2015: Pakistan's Woeful Batting Shocks Wasim Akram

Pakistan crashed to their second successive defeat in World Cup 2015 when the team lost to West Indies by 150 runs at Christchurch, on Saturday. In a horrible batting display once again, the team folded for 160 chasing a target of 311. Former Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram, as a consequence, was left fuming at the lackluster batting display.

Hurting from the defeat against arch-rivals India, Pakistan could hardly mend their wounds in Saturday's Pool B match. West Indies bowlers - led by Jerome Tayle (3 for 15) - made full use of seaming conditions to trample over the batting line-up. The humiliating loss left Pakistan at the bottom of the group and with a pitiable net run-rate. Even as skipper Misbah-ul-Haq wore a devastated look after the match, Akram said the captain himself had done well but cannot single-handedly secure wins. "He scored against India. How many times do you want him to score? It is a team sport and he needs support," said the former cricketer.

Support for Misbah may be a little too late as the already drooping shoulders are now touching new lows. The team next faces Zimbabwe on March 1 and UAE on March 4 before a clash against giants South Africa on March 7.
