Ravichandran Ashwin is Man of the Match for figures of 3/39. Both skippers are also surprised with the kind of spin the Trent Bridge pitch afforded. India can't lose the series now and that would be a huge relief after their disastrous show in the Test series. That's it from this game then.
21:52 IST: Rayudu hits Tredwell for two and that's the Indian win; comprehensive and clinical. All their batsmen came to the party after Dhawan failed again. Rahane smashed 45, Kohli showed signs of his genius with a compact 40, Raina carried on his fine form with 42 and Rayudu, coming back into the side top-scored with an unbeaten 64. A brilliant, all-round performance. India now have a 2-0 lead in the five-match series after the first match was washed out.
21:42 IST: WICKET! Raina charged Tredwell to hold out in the deep; he fell for 42 and India finished over no. 42 on 207/4.
21:29 IST: FOUR! And that's half-century number 3 for Rayudu. Great knock for a man who has been under pressure everytime he has come in to bat for India. India are 200/3 after 38 overs.
21:27 IST: FOUR! Rayudu charges down the pitch to send Finn to the fence. This is incredible batting as India move to 193/3 in the 38th over.
21:21 IST: FOUR! Raina gets stuck into Woakes as he smashes another boundary. India are inching ever so close to victory, having moved to 182/3 off 36.2 overs.
20:55 IST: Raina has come out with all guns blazing; he has simply carried on from where he left off at Cardiff. The left-hander has been especially harsh on Joe Root as India move to 160/3 off 31 overs.
20:33 IST: WICKET! What a huge loss for India that is; Kohli had just moved to 40 with a spanking cover drive but he perished soon after, to Stokes. India are 120/3, chasing 228.

20:21 IST: Kohli and Rayudu in the middle for India who are 98/2 off 22 overs. Despite the loss of Rahane, India have enough firepower to chase down 228.
20:05 IST: WICKET! Crucial break for England as Finn snares Rahane for 45. England are 85/2 after 17.5 overs as Kohli is joined by Rayudu.

19:52 IST: SIX! Rahane sends Stokes flying over the ropes for a great shot. He has moved into the 40s and India are looking in great shape here.
19:47 IST: FOUR! Another cracking cover-drive from Rahane, who pierced the packed off-side field. Finn does not where to bowl anymore. That was not a very poor delivery.
19:44 IST: SIX! Top shot from Virat Kohli, who has hammered Tredwell over the ropes. This good, aggressive intent from the struggling star as India move to 60/1 off 12.3 overs.
19:41 IST: FOUR! Cracking shot from Rahane as Finn overpitches slightly. India are 52/1 off 11.4 overs and are looking really good despite the early loss of Dhawan.
19:35 IST: India are 43/1 after 10 overs and England have introduced spin. James Tredwell will be expected to do the same damage Ashwin & Co. did on England.
19:28 IST: FOUR! Rahane times that beautifully down the ground off Anderson as India move to 41/0 off 8.3 overs. This is good batting.
19:23 IST: WICKET! That's the one England were expecting; Dhawan tried to cut one too close to the body off Woakes' bowling and he ended up giving a regulation catch to Morgan at point. India 35/1 off 7.2 overs as Kohli joins Rahane in the middle.

19:21 IST: India move to 31/0 off seven overs and at this moment they look favorites to chase down 228.
19:17 IST: Dhawan has looked scratchy but at least he is off to a start. Rahane looks confident at the other end as India reached 28/0 off 6 overs.
19:10 IST: Dhawan plays out a maiden from Woakes. India are 22/0 off four overs. They have plenty of time to go 2-0 up.
19:06 IST: Rahane faced a lot of criticism for the way he got out in Cardiff; he looks determined to make amends today as Anderson bowled two poor deliveries. Rahane was quick to latch on to them and hammer them to the fence. India are 22/0 off three overs.
19:00 IST: FOUR! Poor delivery from Woakes and Rahane flicks it off his pads. England are not defending too many and they have to bowl well up front to keep the pressure on India, who are 11/0 after 2 overs.
18:56 IST: India are 2/0 after the first over from James Anderson, chasing 228 for victory against England to take an unbeatable 2-0 series lead.
18:52 IST: The Indian innings is underway. Rahane and Dhawan to open for the tourists who are chasing 228 for victory. James Anderson is running in with the new ball.
18:12 IST: WICKET! Steve Finn was run out off the last ball of the innings as England folded for 227. India's spinners caused major damage, picking up six wickets. R Ashwin (3/39) was the pick of the bowlers for the tourists.
18:09 IST: WICKET! Tredwell was looking to score a few more, having blasted 30 off 18 balls before giving a return catch to Kumar as England reached 226/9.
18:04 IST: Kumar comes on for the last over of the innings and FOUR! Tredwell swings hard. SIX! Wow, Tredwell hammers it out of the park, off a no-ball. These are useful runs from the tail-ender. Just a single off the free hit.
17:56 IST: WICKET! Soon after playing a reverse sweep to bring up England's 200, Buttler fell to Ashwin, who picked up his third wicket of the match. England are 202/7.
17:52 IST: FOUR! Tredwell slams that hard off Shami to pick up his first boundary and he follows it up with another one as England reach 198/7 off 47 overs.
17:45 IST: WICKET! This is the first scalp to a pacer today; Shami struck to remove Chris Woakes for 15 as England slipped to 182/6 with five overs remaining in their innings.
17:21 IST: Possibly, England's last ray of hope as Buttler and Woakes try to steer them towards 200. They have to do the bulk of the work here, with only the bowlers remaining after this.
17:16 IST: WICKET! England are in complete disarray as Ashwin strikes for the second time. He removed Ben Stokes for 2 to leave the hosts reeling at 149/6.

17:07 IST: WICKET! This is a huge blow for England as Ian Bell is run out, thanks to a direct throw by Mohit Sharma. The hosts are 138/5 as India continue to chip away.
16:48 IST: WICKET! Fourth one to a spinner; Ashwin strikes to see off Morgan and another Dhoni catch. The Indian captain already has the most stumpings in international cricket. England are 120/4.
16:39 IST: Apparently Mohit Sharma is back in the field. But the spinners have done a great job for India thus far on a dry surface. England have Morgan and Bell in the middle.
16:29 IST: WICKET! The spinners are turning it on for India. Jadeja has sent back Joe Root and England are now reeling at 97/3. And another stumping for Dhoni, who has had a role to play in all three dismissals so far.

16:22 IST: WICKET! What a moment in the game. Rayudu has picked up his maiden ODI wicket, sending back England skipper Alastair Cook for 44 as England slip to 93/2. India are beginning to hit back here; Joe Root and Ian Bell in the middle now for England.

16:10 IST: WICKET! Raina is the man for India. Just when Hales was looking to pile it on, he decided to sweep Raina and top edged to MS Dhoni, who gleefully accepted an easy catch. India are right back in it after a brilliant start for England, who are 82/1 after 18 overs.

15:48 IST: More injury concerns for India. Could they be a bowler short today after Mohit Sharma hobbled off the field with an injured foot. He had a pill and had a crepe bandage around his calf. Things not looking very bright for India.
© AP
15:45 IST: England have posted their second successive 50 plus stand for the first wicket. Both Cook and Hales are now settled and MS Dhoni will hope for his bowlers to come up with something special here.
15:37 IST: Poor, poor bowling by Shami as he drags it short, allowing Cook to pull it away to the fence. Shami tends to do this; in between some sharp balls, he comes up with some pretty ordinary deliveries.
15:36 IST: Much like the second ODI, England have gone off to another solid start, thanks to their openers. However, once Cook and Hales were separated, the rest of the batsmen just caved in. Can India break this opening stand soon? England are 43/0 off 9 overs.

15:30 IST: FOUR! Hales is looking dangerous without even taking too many chances here; a crisply timed boundary against Shami shows some serious class.
15:27 IST: FOUR! Cook smacks Kumar to the fence to bring up 3000 ODI runs. This is a good start for England, who have moved to 32/0 off 7 overs.
15.23 IST: India's new ball bowlers had started off well, keeping England's openers in check. But Mohit Sharma bowled three poor deliveries in the sixth over, allowing Cook to pick off one and Hales two boundaries. India will need to keep the pressure on. England 24/0 after 6 overs.
15:11 (IST): Is that a catch? Bhuvneshwar almost completes a caught-and-bowled dismissal and Cook survives! ENG 6/0 (3 overs). Cook was induced into the false stroke there, he was initially going for a four straight down the ground but then adjusted his stroke. Nice commitment from Bhuvneshwar.
15:03 (IST): Bhuvneshwar bowls an in-swinger to the right-handed Hales & Dhoni leaps on to the airborne ball. Came off the thigh pad though! Not out. ENG 3/0 (1 over). Mohit Sharma to bowl from the other end.
14:55 (IST): It is slightly overcast but there are minimum chances of rain.
14:44 (IST): Indian skipper Dhoni says he would like to use the morning conditions to his advantage and therefore, the decision to bowl first was taken. He also says that the track looks to be good for batting and they wouldn't really have problems chasing. By the way, the pitch being used for this ODI is different to the one that was used for the first Test match and this particular track hasn't been used for more than a year now.
14:42 (IST): IND Playing XI: Dhawan, Rahane, Kohli, Rayudu, Raina, Dhoni (c), Jadeja, Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar, Shami, Mohit.
England Playing XI: Cook (c), Hales, Bell, Root, Morgan, Buttler, Stokes, Woakes, Tredwell, Finn, Anderson.
14:34 (IST): India bowl first at Nottingham. Rayudu replaces injured Rohit Sharma. Skipper Dhoni says Rahane will most likely open the innings later. England also make once change, they bring in Steve Finn for Chris Jordan. India lead five-match series 1-0.

A game-changing century from Suresh Raina finally gave India a win in the second ODI vs England at Cardiff after a long gap since the Lord's Test. However, as Team India now shift base to Nottingham for the third ODI, it remains to be seen whether India can fight their reputation of 'not being able to close out series after an early advantage'.
For the first time, however, Alastair Cook and his England side seem to be on the backfoot. Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan's bad patch still continues to be a bother for India and the loss of Rohit Sharma due to an injury will also be a problem. However, India will have enough options at the opening slot in the mature Ajinkya Rahane, who has the capability to face the new ball and also Test opener Murali Vijay, who has been called in as a replacement for Sharma. Cook admitted at the post match presentation after the second ODI that his team did not play well and letting India slip by after having them 19/2 at one stage was not a good sign. However, Raina's 75-ball 100 had a huge role to play in that as he made the England bowlers look ordinary. England's batting also looked ordinary in response to India's 304 as they were bundled out for 161 in just 38.5 overs. Worse still, Cook was also fined 20 percent of his match-fee for maintaining a slow over-rate in the match.

Another interesting observation that can be made from the ODI series is that in the two matches so far, it has panned out in a similar way as the Test series, where the controversial first match at Trent Bridge did not produce a result; India won at Lord's and then lost the five-match series 3-1.
Another Indian batsman who will be key at Nottingham is Ajinkya Rahane, who is becoming one of the mainstays of the team in the crucial middle-order. Much will also be expected from the Indian spin combination of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, who troubled English batsmen plenty in the 2nd ODI. England's batting looks very weak with only Alex Hales doing a relatively good job in the 2nd ODI at Cardiff. Skipper Cook, Ian Bell and also Joe Root, who was the batting star of the Test series will have to step up for the hosts. (Also read: Dhoni confirms Raina will bat at No.5)
The third ODI promises to be an exciting battle also for the reason that it is the same venue (Trent Bridge), where the infamous James Anderson and Ravindra Jadeja controversy took place. The Nottingham pitch was also given an official warning by the ICC for not being up to Test standards on the back of complaints from England that it favoured India more than the hosts.
