India vs Australia: Highlights, 2nd ODI - Rohit Sharma Ton in Vain as George Bailey Stars in Record Chase for Australia

For the second consecutive time, Rohit Sharma's century has gone in vain as Australia easily chased down India's total of 308-8 at the Gabba, taking a 2-0 lead in the five-match ODI series. Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh and George Bailey starred with the bat for the hosts while Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane hit half-centuries for India, to add to Rohit's ton. Get all the highlights here. 16:29 hrs IST: And its over!! Australia take a 2-0 lead after beating India by seven wickets with an over to spare. A record chase in Perth and a record chase here. Indian bowlers have just not been good enough and will need to improve drastically if India are to make a comeback in the series.

16:27 hrs IST: Four!! Maxwell smashes that. Australia need just one run.

16:26 hrs IST: He tries to just that but manages to only sky the ball.. But as luck would have it for India lands between three converging fielders. Just not been India's day today.

16:25 hrs IST: Australia require 10 off 12 balls now. Maxwell will try to finish it in this over probably.

16:22 hrs IST: Maxwell surprisingly has been patient. Rarely do you see him score at less than 100 strike rate.

16:20 hrs IST: It seems to be a done and dusted affair now. Geroge Bailey and Glenn Maxwell are taking the hosts towards victory. Australia need just 14 runs off the final three overs.

16:13 hrs IST: Bailey's current average against India is 94.28. And he's making the most of playing against them again.

16:10 hrs IST: Australia are coasting along now and Bailey is the man of the hour for the hosts. Making it look extremely simple. Australia are 278-3 after 45 overs.

16:05 hrs IST: And that's Four more!! Bailey is taking the game away from India. Australia need just 38 off the last 6. It looks all wrapped up now. 

16:03 hrs IST: Six!! Bailey brings about his 18th ODI fifty with a cracking shot off the bowling of Sran.

16:00 hrs IST: Four!! Umesh produces the edge of Bailley's bat but it flies just over the head of Dhoni and to the boundary. Unlucky for India. Australia reach 258-3 after 43 overs.

15:56 hrs IST: Australia need 61 runs off 48 balls. Bailey holds the key for the hosts. Australia are 248-3 after 42 overs.

15:52 hrs IST: Out!! Yadav clean bowls Steve Smith (46). Big wicket for India! Smith tries to cut a straight ball but misses it completely.

15:46 hrs IST: Four!! Smith smashes it back at Ishant, who makes a valiant effort, but its hit too well. India are bleeding runs now.

15:43 hrs IST: Four!! Bailey gets an inside edge off the bowling of Ishant. Everything is going Australia's way now.

15:37 hrs IST: Four!! Ashwin with a short ball and put away by Smith with disdain. The off-spinner finishes his 10 overs conceding 60 runs and without a wicket.

15:34 hrs IST: Last over for Ashwin!! Can he end on a high?

15:33 hrs IST: Four!! Bailey with a brilliant pull shot. The partnership is 44 off 41 balls now. Umesh Yadav has been disappointing. Probably the weak-link today for the Indians.

15:31 hrs IST: Australia are motoring along towards the target. India need to dismiss these two batsmen quickly if they are to have any chance of winning. The hosts are 204-2 after 36 overs.

Good delivery by Ishant!! Marsh tries to turn the ball onto the leg side but gets a leading edge and lobs a catch to Virat Kohli at cover. Australia 166-2 after 30 overs.

15:02 hrs IST: Good over from Jadeja! Just two runs from that over. Australia are 165-1 after 29 overs.

14:57 hrs IST: Dropped!! Yes, again!! And you won't believe it - its Marsh again!! Tough chance at slips for Manish Pandey but as the saying goes - 'Catches win Matches' and India are not doing themselves any favours here.

14:52 hrs IST: Four!! Smith flicks that brilliantly. It is a uppish but too well struck for the fielder to get a hand. Australia reach 156-1 after 27 overs.

14:50 hrs IST: Meanwhile, New Zealand have gone down to Pakistan by 16 runs in the first Twenty20 match at Auckland

14:48 hrs IST: Steven Smith - the dangerman is here. India need to find a way to dismiss him quickly or its match over!

14:43 hrs IST: Out!! Finally India manage to hold on to a catch and it was a good effort from Rahane. Finch goes for 71 off 81 balls.

14:41 hrs IST: Umesh has been erratic and extremely poor. Australia are now all over India, who seem a little short of ideas. Australia 142-0 after 24 overs.

14:37 hrs IST: What an effort from Bran!! Can't call that a dropped catch. That was just a super human effort from the lanky pacer.

Shaun Marsh was dropped twice before he reached his 11th ODI fifty to put Australia on top in the 2nd ODI.

14:31 hrs IST: Four!! Marsh pulls that brilliantly to the deep midwicket boundary. India are losing the plot now.

14:20 hrs IST: Australia are going on slowly but more importantly have all their wickets intact. Smith should send a thank you card to the Indian fielders. India need a wicket desperately.

13:59 hrs IST: Dropped!! Another Chance goes begging! What is happening here. And it's Marsh again. This one, though, is much tougher. Marsh tries to cut an Ashwin delivery and the edge flies past Rahane at first slip. Indians need to find their fielding boots. Wicket is the need of the hour for the visitors.

13:55 hrs IST: Dropped!! What a let off for Shaun Marsh. He goes for the big hit but finds butter fingers Ishant at the long on boundary, who drops an absolute sitter.

13:54 hrs IST: Good start from Ashwin! Just 3 runs from that over. Australia are 48-0 after 12 overs.

13:53 hrs IST: Ashwin bowls. And we have spin from both ends here. Umesh bowls one over, gives two runs and is taken out of the attack.

13:50 hrs IST: Not a surprise! Dhoni has resorted to spin. His go to man Jadeja is thrown the ball. 

13:47 hrs IST: Finch gets lucky!! Kohli takes a shy at the stumps and Finch would have been dismissed if he had hit. Chance missed for India. Australia move along to 40-0 after 10 overs.

13:45 hrs IST: Umesh Yadav is in to the attack now. He needs to maintain the pressure that has been put on the Australian openers in the last few overs.

13:43 hrs IST: The Aussies got off to a blistering start but are being pegged back now. Sran has found his radar and is bowling very economically. Australia are 38-0 after 9 overs.

13:40 hrs IST: In New Zealand, Colin Munro seems to be having a gala time. The Kiwi batsman has scored 30 off just 13 balls so far and the hosts are well on their way to chasing down Pakistan's total.

13:38 hrs IST: A muted appeal from Ishant but that was much better. The ball swings in and strikes Finch on the pads but too high and probably going down the leg.

13:37 hrs IST: Marsh cuts well for three runs. Too much width there from Ishant.

13:34 hrs IST: Australia have made a steady start. India need a make breakthrough quickly but Sran and Ishant have slowly improved after a loose start. Australia are 32-0 after 7 overs.

13:28 hrs IST: Bit of hesitation in running between Finch and Marsh but Ishant can't take advantage of it. Not good footballing skills from the tall fast bowler.

13:27 hrs IST: Excellent bowling from the youngster, just one run from that over. But more importantly he put the batsmen in some discomfort.

13:25 hrs IST: Four dot balls from Sran. Much better stuff from the lanky left-arm pacer.

13:21 hrs IST: Four!! Marsh gets his first boundary. Flicks the ball off his hip to the fine-leg boundary. Ishant is not getting the line right!

13:18 hrs IST: Barinder Sran starting to get his radar right now. Gives away just 4 runs off his second over.

13:14 hrs IST: After a loose start to his over, Ishant came back strongly and beats Shaun Marsh on the final ball. Australia are 15-0 after 2 overs.

13:12 hrs IST: Ishant is swinging the ball in big-time. But he needs to control it. Good signs for India!

13:09 hrs IST: Just to keep you updated. Rahane in his knock of 89 went past the 2000-run mark in ODIs. Hope that's a favourable jinx for India!

13:07 hrs IST: Another Four!! Finch flicks that off the pads. Not the best of starts for Sran and India.

13:06 hrs IST: Four!! Bang!! That came from the meat of the bat. Finch off the mark with a cracking pull shot.

13:04 hrs IST: Barinder Sran starts off the proceedings for India with a wide. The Indian bowlers will need to keep their discipline if they are to restrict the Aussies.

13:04 hrs IST: Shifting the focus back to Brisbane!! The Australian openers are out in the middle. The hosts will have to make a record chase at the Gabba if they are to overhaul India's total. The previous best was 301 when Australia defeated England in 2014.

13:00 hrs IST: Pakistan have finished with 171-8 in their allotted 20 overs. Mohammad Hafeez top scores with 61 off 47 balls.

12:49 hrs IST: Meanwhile in New Zealand, a Shahid Afridi storm just came to an end. The mercurial Pakistan all-rounder smashed 23 off 8 balls. Pakistan are 161 after 18 overs. Two more overs to go.

12:35 hrs IST: During the break, VVS Laxman stated that he was disappointed with India's batting at the death. "India 20 runs short. After Rohit's exit, India lost momentum," he stated.

12:23 hrs IST: Out!! And another one gone. Great stuff from Hastings. Jadeja is run out on the final ball. India finish on 308-8 in 50 overs. Catastrophic batting in the final 10 overs. Up to the Indian bowlers to do the hard bit now.

12:21 hrs IST: Out!! What just happened there? That was comical from Ashwin. He tried to paddle sweep the ball on off-stump and it balloons up straight to short third man fielder. India seemed to have lost the plot after Rohit's dismissal. 

12:18 hrs IST: India are 304-6 after 49 overs. India have thrown away a good start once again. Their frailties to get the big runs in the final 10 overs could again prove to be their downfall.

12:17 hrs IST: Out!! Pandey is sent packing this time for just 6 runs.

12:16 hrs IST: Four!! And 300 for India!! Manish Pandey timed that sweetly.

12:15 IST: Out!! Jinx has been jinxed! Goes for the mighty heavo but finds the deep mid-wicket fielder. Rahane dismissed for 89 off 80 balls with India 298-5 after 48.3 overs.

12:13 hrs IST: Rahane can reach his 100 here but more importantly India need to big overs or could find themselves again 20-30 run short like the first ODI.

12:12 hrs IST: Just 2 more overs to go now. Rahane is unbeaten on 87 and Manish Pandey has 1. India are 295-4 after 48 overs.

12:10 hrs IST: Four!! Rahane smashes that full toss to the mid-wicket boundary. Much-needed shot.

12:08 hrs IST: Four!! Streaky boundary for Rahane. Edges it to third man boundary. India are 283-4 after 47 overs.

12:03 hrs IST: Out!! Dhoni is dismissed after making just 11 runs. Maiden ODI wicket for Boland. India are 276-4 after 46 overs. It was a full-length delivery but Dhoni failed to get under the ball and smashed it flat to Maxwell at long-on.

11:56 hrs IST: India are going at more than six per over finally! Need some big shots if they are to reach the 350-run mark.

11:47 hrs IST: Out!! Rohit is walking back!! This is just plain rotten luck. Rahane hits a straight drive that hits Faulkner's hand and then the wickets at the bowler's end. Rohit run out for 124 off 127 balls. Captain Cool walks out to bat.

Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane notched 121 runs off 111 balls for the 3rd wicket to put India firmly in control of the second ODI.

10:39 hrs IST: India had pressed on the gas just before Kohli got out. Things are back to somewhat normal here. Australia must be counting their lucky stars! The wicket came just at the right time for them.

10:34 hrs IST: Four runs from the Boland over. India are 146-2 after 26 overs. Rohit is on 75 off 80 while Rahane on 3 off 5 balls.

10:31 hrs IST: Interestingly, whenever Kohli has been run out while batting with Rohit, the latter has hit a double hundred. This has happened twice. Third time a charm? Let's hope for India's sake.

10:25 hrs IST: Out!! And just as we say that Kohli (59) has run himself out here. Great throw from Richardson from the fine-leg boundary. Kohli dives in but it's just not enough. There was a bit of hesitation before he took the second and that cost him dear. Ajinkya Rahane walks in! India are 134-2 after 24 overs.

10:20 hrs IST: Another Six!! Kane Richardson is getting a caning from Rohit Sharma here. First a pull towards mid-wicket now a six at the long-on boundary. Excellent batting from Rohit Sharma.

10:18 hrs IST: Six!! Crack!! Rohit pulls on the front foot. What a shot! You could clearly hear the sound of the ball hitting the middle of the bat. 

10:15 hrs IST: Four!! Kohli reaches his half-century in 60 balls! This is 36th fifty overall and fourth against Australia. The 100-run partnership is also completed. Great going from the Indian duo. India are 110-1 after 22 overs.

10:13 hrs IST: Kohli had to put the backburners on there! Great running from him. 

10:10 hrs IST: The partnership is now 91 runs. Rohit and Kohli are again doing it for India but need to cash in from here. The pitch looks extremely flat.
