Mumbai Indians Will Take a Lot of Positives from IPL 7: Rohit Sharma

The defending champions lost to Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets but skipper Rohit Sharma said he had a lot of positives from the entire tournament.

Mumbai staged a miraculous comeback to make it to the playoffs but lost steam against two-time champions Chennai in the eliminator. Rohit however said it was the effort which was heartening. "Chennai were the better side today. But we played well throughout the tournament and the way we got ourselves back into contention was remarkable," he said after the match.

Mumbai had lost their first five matches - all played in UAE, then won two, then lost two and returned with a bang to win five-in-a-row. "We thought we had the momentum with us and could bring it into this match. It was not to be though. I want to take nothing away from Chennai. They batted really well," said Rohit.

Chennai's bowling, rather than batting though came for special praise from skipper MS Dhoni. At a stage when Lendl Simmons (67 off 44) looked to take Mumbai to a massive total, the likes of Mohit Sharma (3/42), Ravindra Jadeja (2/31) and Ashish Nehra (2/34) brought Chennai back into the game. "I think our bowlers did really well to restrict them (Mumbai) to 173 on this batting track. 180-185 would have been a par score on this track," he said at the post-match presentation.
