# Plessis' first two hundreds in Tests were 110 not out vs Australia at Adelaide last year and 137 vs New Zealand at Port Elizabeth this year.
# Plessis' aforesaid innings is the highest by a South African batsman in the fourth innings of a Test match against India, eclipsing the 122 not out by Daryll Cullinan in the 1996-97 Johannesburg Test.
# For the first time in the same Test innings against India, two South African players have scored hundreds in the fourth innings of a Test match.
# Zaheer Khan is the fourth Indian bowler after Anil Kumble (619), Kapil Dev (434) and Harbhajan Singh (413) to complete 300 Test wickets or more. (Zaheer joins 300 club)
# Zaheer took 89 Tests to complete 300 Test wickets - the slowest by an Indian bowler to the milestone. Anil Kumble took 66 Tests, followed by Harbhajan Singh (72) and Kapil Dev (83).

# The aforesaid partnership is the highest for any wicket for South Africa in the fourth innings vs India, outstripping the 127 for the eight wicket between Lance Klusener and Daryll Cullinan at Johannesburg in 1997.
# The 205-run partnership is South Africa's highest fifth-wicket stand vs India in South Africa, obliterating the 100 between Mark Boucher and Ashwell Prince at Kingsmead, Durban in 2006-07. The said stand is the second highest for this wicket-position for South Africa vs India, next only to the 256 between De Villiers and Kallis at Ahmedabad in 2008.
# The above stand is the first double century stand for any wicket for South Africa vs India at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. The partnership is also the highest fifth-wicket stand for South Africa at Johannesburg.
# Virat Kohli has been adjudged the Man of the Match for the second time in Tests - his first being against New Zealand at Bangalore for posting 103 & 51 not out in 2012.
