After dominating with the bat for five sessions, Indian bowlers ripped apart the inexperienced Windies batting line-up as the visitors ended Day 2 of the first Test at Rajkot with 94 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets. The Windies batsmen seemed clueless against the Indian bowlers, losing wickets at regular intervals in the final session of the day. After India declared their first innings on a mammoth 649-9 at tea, the Windies got off to a worst possible start, losing both their openers inside the first five overs. Mohammed Shami bowled was almost unplayable at times, dismissing skipper Kraigg Brathwaite (2) and Kieran Powell (1) in his successive overs. Post Shami's opening burst, spinners took charge and ran through the Windies middle-order. Shimron Hetmyer (10), Sunil Ambris (12) and Shane Dowrich (10) got out cheaply, leaving their side reeling at 74 for six. Roston Chase (27) and Keemo Paul (13) were at the centre when umpires decided to bring an end to the day's play. Spinners Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav bagged a wicket apiece. Earlier, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja notched up centuries, taking India to a mammoth total in the first innings. (SCORECARD) (Play fantasy league and win cash daily)

09:00 IST: We are 30 minutes away from the start on Day 2.
08:45Â IST:Â Youngster Prithvi Shaw stole the limelight on Day 1 with a his record knock on Test debut. On Day 2, skipper Virat Kohli (72) along with Rishabh Pant (17) will look to take India past the 500-run mark.
08:30 IST:Â Hello and welcome to the live updates of Day 2 of the first Test between India and the Windies.
Kohli looked set for another hundred and was batting alongside Rishabh Pant (17 not out off 21) at the close of play. Eighty-nine overs were bowled on day one with India scoring at 4.08 runs per over. The West Indies handed a big setback even before toss with the last-minute withdrawal of captain Jason Holder, looked ordinary at best on the field. Barring pacer Shanon Gabriel (1/66), none of the bowlers troubled the Indian batsmen on a greenish surface which did not seem to do much.
The opposition attack was far from threatening but due credit must be given to Shaw, who batted like a seasoned campaigner in his first match for India. His back-foot play off the pacers was a treat to the eyes and when spinners were deployed, he was not afraid to use the long handle.
