Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir said his KKR supporters were "more loyal" than the fans of Delhi Daredevils, which was his previous team in the Indian Premier League.
"I've played for three years in Delhi but I think they were not as loyal as Kolkata is for KKR," Gambhir, whose hometown is Delhi, said after the victory over his hometown franchise on Wednesday.
The 67,000 capacity Eden Gardens stadium was packed to the hilt for the first match of IPL 6. The home side did not disappoint the fans, taming Delhi by six wickets with eight balls to spare.
"The crowd is one advantage and can be heartbreaking for the opponents. It's always a great feeling when you walk on to the field with 70,000 people backing you," Gambhir said.
"But, for me there's no home advantage. It's about playing good cricket," he added.
Gambhir was KKR's top-scorer with a 29-ball 41 in the successful chase of 129 and said he was looking to play aggressive cricket.
"My instincts have always been attacking whatever the format may be. I don't want to be in a mode where I'm looking to survive," he said.
