It was on the back his stellar show that Bangladesh bundled out India for a mere 200 and then overhauled the target easily to seal the three-match series.
"I will try to do even better than this. Please pray for me so that I can bring honours for the country," Mustafizur said when asked about his expectation from the third match on Wednesday. (Mustafizur Destroys Indian Batting, Does an Encore of Fifers)
"I am very happy that I have been able to do something for the team. I thank the crowd for braving the rain and staying to support us," he said. (Match in Pics)
Asked about his journey from a remote village to international cricket, the pacer said,"I owe it one of my elder brothers."
India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni blamed poor batting for the debacle in the series.
"We need to put runs on the board. We didn't get to a good start, and whenever there was a partnership we lost two wickets together. You have to take risks in such a game, but if you keep losing two wickets in a row, it becomes difficult to do so. If you have 200 on the board, it is quite easy for the other teams to chase so I won't blame the bowlers for this game," Dhoni said.
"We as batsmen got starts, but we didn't make it big. Where we lacked was the fact that we lost wickets. Most of them played two or three deliveries," Dhoni added on the batting front.
Asked about the splendid show by the Bangladeshi batsmen, Dhoni said," They are bowling well as a unit. You can't really rely on just one or two bowlers. That is what they are doing well. Even when they didn't get a wicket, they kept things tight. They got a bit of reverse but their lines and lengths were good."
Dhoni said the team will try to play freely in the third ODI on Wednesday.
"We will come and enjoy, maybe play a bit more freely. Won't think too much about the result. It does not matter whether we lose 1-2 or 0-3. That will be the last match of the season, it has been a hectic season, and we are looking forward to it."
Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza was delighted with his team's show.
"That was great moment for us. To be playing in the Champions Trophy is a big achievement for us. Every time we were shaken someone took over. That is a big thing," he said.
"It has been very significant, and many series coming up, hopefully we can keep on performing like this," he said.
Mortaza had words of praise for young paceman Mutafizur.
"The way Mustafiz is bowling he has become the big fish in this tournament."
