India's ODI skipper MS Dhoni praised his young bowling attack for breaking the back on Zimbabwe batting in Harare on Wednesday. India scored a 10-wicket win to sweep the ODI series 3-0.
"I think the execution has been really good, and that's the key factor. The fast bowlers and the spinners took wickets and put pressure, so I'm happy with the bowling performance," Dhoni said in a post-match chat.
India were not expected to have it this easy in the ODIs. Zimbabwe simply refused to put up a fight in all three matches but Dhoni's doesn't mind that.
"I don't mind winning games easily, that's what you are supposed to do. Yes, it would have been nice if a few of the other batsmen would have had a break," Dhoni said.
KL Rahul's fine form throughout the series (196 runs) won him the Man of the Tournament award. On Wednesday, Rahul scored an unbeaten 63 while debutant Faiz Fazal made the most of the opportunity and hit his maiden fifty.
"I always knew I had the game to do well in every format. It was just a matter of time. The last couple of months have been really good. To come out here and perform the way I have is really pleasing," said Rahul, who did not forget to credit teammates like Jasprit Bumrah, who took his second four-wicket haul in ODIs.
"Credit to our bowlers for making our job easy. I knew I could go out there, take my time and play proper cricketing shots. It was a challenge for me to remain calm and play my natural game. I'm not thinking about West Indies yet. What's on my mind right now is to switch to the T20 format," said Rahul.
The three-match T20 series starts on June 18.
