Ana Ivanovic advances to 2nd round at Wimbledon

Former top-ranked Ana Ivanovic of Serbia advanced to the second round of Wimbledon with a 7-6 (1), 6-0 win over qualifier Virginie Razzano of France on Monday.

The 12th-seeded Ivanovic, a semifinalist at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament in 2007, faced a tough challenge from her French rival in the first set but raised her game in the tiebreaker. She then wrapped up the second set in 22 minutes, serving out the match with her sixth ace before raising her arms in celebration.

The 158th-ranked Razzano has not won a match against a top-15 opponent since her stunning win over Serena Williams at the French Open last year.
