The Ashes: Tredwell and Brothwick called into England's Test squad

Graeme Swann's mid-Ashes series shock retirement calls for desperate measures by England selectors.

England selectors have added Kent off-spinner James Tredwell and Durham leg-spinner Scott Borthwick to the Ashes Test squad following Graeme Swann's retirement from international cricket. The fourth Test starts on Boxing Day in Melbourne.

Borthwick will arrive into Melbourne later on Monday, will train with England ahead of the fourth Test and will be available for selection, according to an ECB media release. Tredwell will arrive in Melbourne during the fourth Test and will be available for selection for the final Test in Sydney beginning on January 3.
