This is probably India's best chance to win a Test series in Sri Lanka for the first time since 1993. Minus Kumar Sangakkara, the Sri Lankan dressing room is extremely short on experience and that will hurt the hosts in the third and deciding Test starting in Colombo on Friday, says Sunil Gavaskar.(India, Sri Lanka Delay Announcing Playing XIs)
In an exclusive interview to NDTV, Gavaskar said the odds will be stacked against the Lankans because Sangakkara's experience will be missed and India will have all the advantages in spite of a couple of top first-eleven players - Murali Vijay and Wriddhiman Saha -- going home due to injuries.(India Aim for Series Win)
Stronger on paper, India will still need to take the 20 wickets to win and Gavaskar feels circumstances demand that the tourists play with five specialist bowlers. "Bhuvneshwar Kumar should play and with all respect to Stuart Binny, India must play a genuine swing bowler," Gavaskar said.(All Set for Thrilling Finale)
India have the better bowlers, feels Gavaskar. "Rangana Herath may have bowled India out in Galle, but our spinners are better," Gavaskar said.
The Sinhalese Cricket Club wicket has a cover of grass and Gavaskar feels Bhuvneshwar' swing could be more lethal than Varun Aaron's pace.
